SMOKE: New Orleans Saints Could CASH IN If Derek Carr Unretires, Potential Trade Looms

Derek Carr’s potential unretirement could shake up the NFL quarterback landscape—and the New Orleans Saints stand to gain the most. With exclusive rights to Carr’s contract through 2026, the Saints could land draft compensation from teams desperate for a veteran starter.

The Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and Indianapolis Colts emerge as likely suitors, each seeking answers at quarterback. With Carr’s prior shoulder injury and a year away from football, his trade value could be limited to Day 3 draft picks—yet those assets could help reshape the Saints roster. Salary cap implications appear minimal, allowing the Saints to maintain control and leverage.

  1. If an injured, retired Carr has trade value, then Rattler, who still has the potential to start in this league, should be worth much more and we know he plans on continuing his career.

So that's where i am on this. If the demand for Carr exists at all, the demand for Rattler would be higher. Let's get that man to his next opportunity and use the picks we get for our next opportunity.

  2. If they pull that weasel move they should pay DC 30 some million because he retired so the Saints didn’t have to pay him. They should just let him go. Bunch of crap to try and cash in.

  3. The comment section of saints videos is wild sometimes . If a team wants to trade for Carr he will have to work out for them and pass a physical. Carr will have to agree to the trade because he has a no trade clause. Teams that need a qb will evaluate Carr without consulting podcasters or the opinions of fans. If we can get something for him then just get it.

  4. 😂😂😂, Saints fans never aceptted him, he was the Best player on the team those years (pff grade, advanxed metrics, efficiency metrics, etc), he did yall a somid by retiring instead of riding the bench and cashing 40m and yall still salty? He doesnt Even have to unretire, if the Saints try to send him to a place he doesnt hace a chance to compete he can simply Say no and You get nothing.
Saints fans showing their stupidity once again lol

  5. Derek Carr's 2023-24 stats for N.O. were quite good, and that was with maybe not the best coaching, on-field talent, and key personnel injuries. But it seems like the QB normally gets a lot of the blame when a team isn't successful. I don't think many people thought Sam Darnold would win a Super Bowl until he did it. And Phillip Rivers' did well this year after a 5 year hiatus so I think there should be a good deal of interest from other teams if he decides to return to the game. He's only 34, and may have another 3-4 good years left.

  6. Teams needing a new day 1 starter. Jets. Dolphins. Browns. Steelers. Raiders. Vikings. Cardinals. Up can argue that the Dolphins, Browns, Cardinals (and the Falcons) have a day 1 starter in play. But they don't have the day 1 starter who has their FULL confidence. But then, who thinks Derek Carr can be the quarterback who leads them to the Super Bowl?
