  2. DAY 451 (1054/554) on THE ROAD TO THE 2026 6TH WBSC-MLB WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC and 180 YEARS OF BASEBALL – First Pitchers and Catchers Have Arrived

Happy Closing Week of the California Winter League!

Beginning today, fans, with 6 MLB teams welcoming back their pitching staff and catchers to spring training, 3 each in the spring training hubs in Arizona and Florida, we’ve finally arrived in this the 140th year of MLB Spring Training, a tradition dating back from 1886.

This week, Pitchers and Catchers Week, constitutes the beginning of this the 139th preseason of Major League Baseball, with more than a month of games and special events all leading up to the 157th Opening Day in March – and for the 6th time in history, will include games featuring the USA and Puerto Rico-based national teams that will be taking part in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, many of them who will commence their training first as members of their MLB teams before they suit up for their national programs – an important chance as these also serve as the first official qualifying events for the Olympics in 2028.

This sign of pitchers and catchers of both major league and MiLB rosters returning to the spring training facilities of their respective franchises beginning today marks thus the start of a month of training for both the current stars of the MLB and the up and coming talent from the minors as they prepare for a brand new year of action across all leagues and in stadiums across the USA and Canada with events held overseas and all across the USA – all with watching fans both in the stadiums and watching virtually.

We’ve finally arrived in this moment of our baseball year… fans, our beloved MLB is now back for the season!

    For Glory

    John
