  1. Emmitt Finnie needs to be bumped back up to the 1st line. Being relegated to the Bottom Six with slower linemates that don’t produce much is the primary issue here that actively hurts Finnie’s development. He needs to be slotted back into the 1st line where he started.

  2. If 88 didn’t miss 15 games how many players would have more points on the wings ? For 88 to thrive he needs a center ! I still would like to see him with 71 no disrespect to Copp !

  3. All due respect, cause i love listening to you guys but… I think you guys should watch some GR games lately before talking about players there… MBN have definitely not been "on fire" lately there, its the other way around… He only have 8 goals in 40 some games and i don't think he scored a goal past 15 games now…

Cossa have also had a dip (he let in 5 goals on 17 shots a week ago and i believe last game he played he was pulled after letting in 5 on 12 shots) and it's actually Postava that looks like their #1 guy since he came back from injury, posting back to back shutouts not that long agoo and look like the more consistent goalie. Which is also the reason Stevie Y have kept Cossa in GR cause he wants to see him be solid for a full season, not just 15-20 games of span (where even their ECHL goalie and amateur tryout goalie matched his numbers since the whole team was unreal in their historical season). I wouldn't mind actually use Cossa as a trade chip before his value will start to drop (turning 24yo and no real NHL experience will do that, its just so long you can live on the name "potential") and secure Trey Augustine signature as "the goalie of the future" who to me atleast already proved more a "certain NHL starter" written on him after played against men & NHL players in WC where Cossa didn't even make it to play in world juniors where Team Canada choose a undrafted goalie as their starter over him…

It would SUCK hanging on to Cossa simply to see Augustine go back to NCAA for his last year simply to walk as a free agent and then Cossa falling through á la Tom McCollum at NHL level… Then you are back to scratch going from deep to thin at goalie position pretty fast. Cossa value can drop pretty fast from 1st+2nd pick we gave up to get him to be hard to even get a 3rd round pick value back if he doesn't establish himself in the NHL over the next year from now…

  4. Style of play. RWs are doing a lot of dump and chase. 88 is not an effective tool in that type of style unless there’s high amounts of puck retrieval (which there hasn’t been) I see Copp or the D constantly dump in the ozone, which becomes a possession loss and now 88 is playing D (which we all know is not why he’s here) When you look at when 88s stacking up points, it’s bc of puck possession game: PP, zone entries, rush chances.

Agree with everyone about center depth. I’ve never thought Copp was the best for 2nd line but who else is there?

Also agree, Larkins gotta step up.

  5. 28M in cap space this season and 40M next season. A bunch of tradable prospects and a lot of draft picks. Tons of assets but still Yzerman missed out on Hughes, Andersson and Panarin. Has the owner no more money to spend? Is Yzerman just overly cautious?
To secure a playoff run Redwings need to improve.

  6. Larkin is a 2nd line centerman, and a very good one at that. Too many one dimensional players on this team like Kane and the +- is trash. Team defense is a huge stat in the playoffs. Best Wings team in a decade but a lot of work to do in the front office. Don’t be surprised if they lose in the first rd of the playoffs.

  7. I think it’s somewhat futile all the endless speculation about the good players coming to Detroit. Panarin, , Rasmus Anderson, Robert Thomas, Robertson. It’s an endless amount of media and fan conjecture —-and nothing ever comes to pass with all the good players the Redwings are, allegedly, linked to. It’s pretty definitive at this point that Yzerman doesn’t have the desire to part with assets to get quality. And yet it seems to be the one necessary action to actually improve this roster given free agents can go anywhere they like.

  8. I love Kane, but he is definitely slowing down. He is 37 and had a major surgery BUT he is still Patrick Freaking Kane. The leadership, playmaking ability and the chemistry he has with Alex is unreal. Getting 60 pts at 37 years old is amazing when you think about it. How many guys are doing that? Crosby? Ovie? It is very elite company. Hope he can play at least another 2 seasons after this one. His locker room impact with just his presence alone is massive to gave a guy with 3 cups and 1400 pts.

  9. I'm Fabio Barattucci. Thanks for replying! Brian, you pronounced my name perfectly. As for my surname and the city of Varese… you have my respect, as Scotty said, haha. Varese is in the mountains north of Milan, over an hour from the arena where they play, so I won't be going to the games but I'll be following them on TV. I'll be rooting for Sweden: Raymond is my favorite player!

  10. No one on the mailbag asked how they would feel about this season if they miss the playoffs while still getting 95-100 points? This conference is stacked…makes me nervous.

  11. Based on the fact that Finnie made the Wings as a 20 year old I highly doubt it will be 3 or 4 years before we see Carter Bear on the Wings

  12. There's more to hockey than just points and goals. You won't be able to convince me that whenever Kane is on the ice, the defense isn't keeping an eye on where he is… cause he's a sniper and a play maker.

  13. Kane is the least of our worries on this roster. Let’s call out the guys just doing cardio at this point, they’re the issue…let’s call out the Rassmussen’s, the Kasper’s, the Compher’s, of the world. They’re doing a large amount of nothing right now. They’d be healthy scratches on any other team right now.

  14. btw, Patrick Kane on-ice % rankings at 5v5 since Nov 29 (first game of copp cat kane line)

    corsi 4th (2nd among forwards)
    fenwick 2nd (1st among forwards)
shots on goal 2nd (1st among forwards)
    goals% 2nd (1st among forwards)
    expected goals% 2nd (1st among forwards)
scoring chances 6th (4th among forwards)
high danger chances 4th (2nd among forwards)

That's over 27 games, 33 team games. With 19/27 games for Kane being a huge slump.

  15. At this point I think its crucial to get another top 6 to replace Kane next season. He's just not that effective anymore. He has time left ft to maybe change my mind as other players like Larkin have been struggling a lot as well. I have faith that Larkin will rebound though, not Kane.

  16. The players and prospects I consider untouchables at this time are:
    1. Dylan Larkin
    2. Lucas Raymond
    3. Moritz Seider
    4. Alex DeBrincat
    5. Simon Edvidsson
    6. Axel Sandin Pellikka
    7. Max Plante
    8. Eddie Genborg
    9. Marco Kasper
    10. Trey Augustine
    11. Carter Bear
    12. Nate Danielson
    13. Sebastian Cossa
    14. MBN
    15. Emmitt Finnie

  17. I'm really starting to think this podcast is just a echo chamber for your own armchair GM dreams. Patrick Kane is amazing.. I watch him every game and he's doing amazing things.. his passing alone is unsurpassed.. maybe only Raymond is coming close to that. Kane is fine. And with the salaries going up . . His 5+5.5 mil Is a discount for the next however many years. We should be happy he chose us. In all honesty, You guys really sound like 20 something year olds.. Just complaining about getting rid of a player every time things are going well. Then at the end of the season when he sliding it up in the playoffs you're going to say oh we were wrong. When you see his point totals I don't have to 61 points and 61 games… You'll be like well he was worth it. Mickey Redmond used to talk a lot during the pandemic days and the late 2010s about how the mentality amongst people today is just " what have you done for me lately?" That's all you guys seem to be doing with these off day podcasts.. Just criticizing me whoever hasn't done something lately. It's getting old. Grow up

  18. OK, not about hockey, but I'm a stickler for proper grammar. When promoting your insider package, you keep on saying that this gives access to Discord so we can talk with "Scotty and I". Not correct! If it was just you, would you say "so you can talk to I"? No! You would say "so you can talk to me"! Adding another person does not change the object to a subject. You should be saying "so you can talk with Scotty and me"! Aside from this constant annoyance, I do enjoy what you guys have to say. Keep it up.

BTW, I catch your podcast from Jerusalem, Israel. There's actually some hockey here! Israel's under-20 team took the bronze in last month's IIHF under-20 tournament!
