[Jim Kalista] "There has been some confusion as to how the ESPN distribution will work this year. Keep in mind this is NOT for in market customers. This only applies to folks who live outside of the market.

However in the spirit of trying to make this simple for everyone I'm going to explain how this will work, along with giving a simple graphic to follow along with.

1: If you had an MLB.TV account previously, all you do is renew (at $149.99).

2: If you have ESPN unlimited you can add MLB.TV with a 10 percent discounted price of $134.99.

3: NEW CUSTOMERS..

You can now purchase an MLB.TV subscription through ESPN Unlimited. This is 149.99 for MLB.TV or $29.99 monthly all of ESPN. The ESPN app does include a free month of ESPN Unlimited (just be sure to cancel it).

4: You have T-Mobile? Great. You can keep on chugging watching all of MLB with that great perk. Also, you can choose to watch via the MLB app or ESPN app. Your choice.

As of now our team and the CleGuardians.TV package is still $99.99 for in market customers.

So while there was some misinformation that came out about a double dip charge, I hope this clears up things for everyone.

If you have any questions drop em below and as always…

  1. JFC @ Rob Manfred. How about “Click here to watch Guardians baseball.”

We need a 500-word document with four options that still confuses people on how to watch their favorite team, and this is not the largest red flag for MLB?

    I’m asking rhetorically.

  2. Can’t wait to see if MLB puts me in two or three “markets” this season, despite being 300 miles from an MLB stadium.

  3. I’m going to be honest, if I didn’t have TMobile and this was free for me I wouldn’t be watching Guardians games this year. Having to jump through all of these hoops and then still not be able to watch when they play KC and STL (I live in the KC metro) isn’t something I’d be interested in doing. When the TMobile perk is eliminated I’ll go spend more time outside drinking beer or something. Never will understand making your product harder to find and consume for customers.

  4. I bought the in market $100 package today, no mention anywhere about having to deal with the ESPN Unlimited thing thankfully

  5. I am quite pleased with GuardiansTV and am very very happy to still have it as an option for in-market!

  6. I’m an out of market fan (currently out of the country for work) and I was able to buy single team for Cleveland for the normal $99, no mention of ESPN which i cant see here anyway.

  7. is the id me discount no longer offered? My dad was able to get a discount for being a vet but it does not look like thats an option now

  8. Do you still have to go the ESPN route if watching from abroad? Or does one just set their VPN to make it look like they’re in-market and avoid the out of market plan entirely?

  9. And I canceled my auto renew because everybody was saying we’re gonna have to pay for espn on top of it. I don’t have the option to renew either. Gonna have to get espn and cancel.

  10. That free month of ESPN unlimited is such a bullshit moneymaking scheme. So many people are going to forget and spend $30 on a service they never wanted

  11. TF? This has to be one of most convoluted plans to just watch my fuckin baseball team

With mlb TV, are we still screwed with constant goofy blackouts or whatever?

  12. And if you live in central Ohio and have the right cable package through Spectrum, none of this matters, right?

  13. Would getting MLB.TV for $150 include the Guardians in-market, or is that another $100 on top of it?

  14. So the best thing is just ESPN unlimited? Also, if you have T-Mobile, we have access to the ESPN app or if you switch to T-Mobile (new customers only)?

Also, does out of market mean away games?

  15. We should put the MLB on suicide watch. If you told me a competitor made this scheme up to try to reduce viewership, I would believe you.

  16. This in market/ out of market is a major pain in my ass. Apparently, it’s a 125 mile radius around Cleveland. I literally live 125 miles as the crow flies away. Tried to watch a game a couple years ago and it was blacked out. I’d love to watch Guardians games but apparently I’m out of market. I’m not gonna pay for something that I don’t know wtf I’m even gonna get….very frustrating.

  17. The real bs is when you’re a fan of a out of market team in a baseball market. As a white sox fan I can’t see Sox/Guards games unless I pay full price for the Guards plan and the out of network for the rest. Baseball needlessly makes things hard on themselves
