[Short] Two news items from David Stearns just now…. 1) Francisco Lindor is being evaluated for a stress reaction in his left hamate bone. Could need surgery, which would take around six weeks to return. Would still have a chance to be ready for Opening Day. 2) Juan Soto will play LF this season

The most condescending guy on this sub called me an idiot multiple times for suggesting Soto should play left field.
Interesting move, I feel like he’s got a strong arm, though I guess Benge is stronger since he was a pitcher.
Lmao two days after the Super Bowl ends and I get hype for baseball and we get reports lindor may need surgery. I hate sports.
Bo at short, Baty at third, Benge in right?
Now his denial from the WBC makes sense
Are the Mets going to play guys like MLB The Show? Put guys wherever regardless of position?
Soto in LF is fine. It just sucks that this pretty much means no Steven Kwan.
fingers crossed lindor doesn’t need surgery—hamate injuries can sap a little power for a year or so.
Uhhh did Lindor punch a wall bc he can’t play in the WBC?
Love soto in left!!!
the worst part of his defense was the cutout in right. in a more uniform corner I can see him playing much better defense!
Seems kinda silly to just make Lindor skip Spring training and start playing fresh off an injury… also he usually sucks in April, so whatevs
I like Soto to left. Easier layout, and it should be more chances to use his arm, right?
So instead of having the second best right fielder in baseball, we’ll now have the number one best left fielder in baseball.
As of now it seems like all signs are pointing towards Benge making the team right? I’ve seen the low A highlights but the dude must be legit. He already climbed up to 16th prospect in mlb when a few weeks ago was low 20s
Excited to see him play.
Whatever it takes to get Lindor 100% early in the season. I just don’t want him starting the season with a nagging injury.
Isn’t hamate bone the bone that essentially zaps all power from hitters for most of the season? Please tell me this is different
If Benge starts the year in right, where does Baty play? Platoon DH/1B?
Lindor doesn’t hit in April anyway
According to SNY, sterns says Lindor has had soreness in the hamate area on and off for “a couple of years.”
“He’s usually able to grind through it, and he’s done it,” Stearns said. “I don’t know when he first felt it, but I think it just persisted to the point where he felt like he should say something about it. Once we examined it a little bit more yesterday, our medical staff determined that he should see a specialist.”
Get the surgery. Semien starts the year at SS, Baty at 2B. Let Bo learn 3B. Hopefully Lindor is back by end of April/early May and plays the rest of the season at full strength

LOL and he was going to play in the wbc…
WTF
It’s a 162 game marathon, not a sprint. Get the surgery, take whatever time he needs to recover, and get us over the hump into the playoffs when you get back on the field.
God hamate!
Go back in time and get the surgery yesterday.
Left is great for Soto. 👍
Im gonna trust whatever the team and Lindor decide on. Sore back, bone spurs, foot injuries, and now hand issue that has persisted for seasons. He still delivers because that’s just the guy he is. It’s not like he’s holding off from something major and critical. All these guys have something nagging going on. Doesn’t stop them from suiting up and performing. That’s why they get paid the big bucks.
Hopefully they’ll let him play in the WBC.
So who has the CANNON that will be starting in right?
