The trade has been a wash so far

  1. excuse me, this does not conform to the exclusively anti-beane narrative i have committed to in my head.

  2. Maybe, but Coleman has a better than 50% chance of not being rostered by this time next year, Worthy is very likely to still be on KC as a role player at least.

  3. Honestly, at least Coleman can block.

But yeah, zero reason for anyone to still be bringing up the “I can’t believe he gave the Chiefs their guy” thing.

  4. Considering it’s 5 picks before, you should expect Worthy to be slightly better just on the rational he was picked first. The full scope of that trade is this:

Buffalo: Keon Coleman, Dewayne Carter, and Travis Clayton

KC: Xavier Worthy and C.J. Hanson

  5. 900 yards vs 1300 plus the threat of worthy makes you play different defense. I would still take worthy.

  6. I wouldn’t say it’s a wash. Worthy has been slightly better, hasn’t been a healthy scratch and is probably more likely to contribute going forward.

That said he hasn’t been good enough for us to care that we didn’t draft him. His production is mediocre and has a highlight reel of fuck ups where he runs the wrong route or straight out of bounds for no reason.

If anything we traded down and still had McConkey sitting there. Cooper DeJean was also heavily talked about here and has been great. Lassiter too.

We traded down and the players that would have made an impact were sitting there anyway. Just picked the wrong one.

  7. They are atleast utilizing worthy not only as a reciever.

I guess that’s them taking advantage of his skillet luckily for us we may have not been able to anyway.

They use him like how we use Shakir. But they give him reverses and Jets which we don’t run.

  8. Either way, Im really hoping coleman wakes up during this off-season and has one of those thoughts like “man i need to change or i might not be a football player in this league” hoping something like this happens and he matures enough to do whatever he needs to develope into a solid option.

  9. That’s why I think comparing the draft picks to the draft selection is poor thinking. This could’ve been a great trade if Beane just drafted a better player and there always will be a better player. Same thing with the Diggs trade. It’s not Diggs or JJettas it’s just Diggs or 1st round pick plus those other ones. It’s just that they made the correct pick with their selection and if they didn’t then it would’ve been different. The draft picks don’t mead the player but the opportunity to draft at that position. I hope this all makes sense.

  10. It’s not a wash because we basically drafted Hairston to defend Worthy. This team has been building itself to beat KC for 5 years so I don’t wanna hear it was about him defending others

  11. WHOA!!! A wash? Don’t forget, not only did Bills get a 5th string WR, they also got a 5th string DT and a 4th string OT who doesn’t know how to play football yet. (sarcasm but not really)

  12. The mistake was not picking DeJean.

Anyway, Worthy barely has better numbers in a scheme designed by one of the greatest offensive minds the NFL has ever seen. If you swapped Coleman 1:1 for Worthy, Coleman would look much better.

  13. Kinda. I would say worthy has torched us more than Coleman has KC tho. But both seem mid AF if you ask me

  14. Something to consider would be Worthys impact if he were on the Bills compared to the Chiefs. I know it’s all a big what if but a lot of talk lately is Buffalos need for a speed receiver, 32 year old Brandin Cooks showed potential in the Bills offense even if the interception play made him lose some fans. Again I know it’s all a what if but I think Worthy would be doing better if he were playing with the Bills.

  15. The Chiefs don’t beat the Bills in the conference game without Worthy. That alone gives them the edge in the trade. Worthy looked great in the latter half of that year. Last year wasn’t nearly as good but he was also injured a good part of the season.

  16. This was a whiff full stop and it has nothing to do with Worthy. Keon’s skillset is such a poor fit in this offense that Beane should have been fired at years end. A slow, high pointing guy on a team full of short/intermediate route guys was such a weird add on. Top it off with his poor work ethic and it’s a D grade

  17. Kinda same with Diggs trade, would have been a good trade if we didn’t spend the extra pick on an undersized DT that seemingly isn’t living up to the spend.

  18. Worthy has additional value in what he opens up on the field for other receivers because defenses have to account for his speed. Keon isn’t drawing wary additional defenders his way when he lines up
