[BNS] A few other Jays notes via John Schneider: Okamoto will mainly play 3B with some 1B mixed in

If Okamoto is gonna take some 1B games, where does Vladdy go?
Lauer as SP Depth/Long Man out of the pen is nice to see. He did really well in that role last year for a while.
Really don’t want to doom too much but gosh there are a lot of question marks on the offensive side of the ball.

All of this is great news.
A stud left handed corner OF would have been nice instead of that platoon. Oh well…
But that’s the LF platoon that almost got them all the way, so let’s give em another shot.
Man, we didn’t get Tucker, we lost Bo, and now Santander is out. There has been no visble upgrade to our lineup and considering we’re already stumbling into the start of spring training, we cannot afforad another injury anywhere
Where’s the love for The Joey?
Lauer as a SP makes me a bit more worried about Bieber
If Lukes and Schneider can give a 110 ops+ with a solid defence that won’t be a bad replacement. I just think they were probably hoping Tony would give them some serious power.
No middle infielder backups besides schneider
Nothing really surprising here. Okamoto was always gonna be the thirdbaseman and first baseman when Vladdy is DHing, with Santander out it was always going to be Luke’s and Davis platooning, Ernie was the obvious starting second baseman and Lauer is our only real starting depth option with Beiber being delayed and Bowden out for the year
Could really use some random positive news
I can’t wait to see John Schneider playing LF
Barger, Clement, Lukes & Schneider all played huge rolls down the stretch and postseason. They’ve earned the playing time, now time to prove they deserve it
*Wait? You’re telling me he isn’t going to replace our star 1B on the field? I’m shocked*
Why not Oakmoto outfield is his footspeed that bad.
I suspected as much, Schneider will want to get Okamoto as many ABs as possible and the only way Vladdy isn’t playing 1st is if he’s DH
Expect Okamoto to be a poor mans Eric Hinske
If this team needs an OF that can hit, it will get out. Easiest position to upgrade and lots of prospect depth to do it.
I expected them to put Ponce in that SP/long relief mix too
GIMME FULL TIME BARGER RF BABY LETS GOOO
Not surprising to see Lauer stretched out, but I hope this means Flaherty is on the roster. Rogers can face lefties but i wouldn’t love if we open the season with only Little as a lefty reliever, unless they have him on a real short leash.
How we feeling about the lineup?
I really hope Shrek or Loperfido come out blazing in spring training. Davis hotdogs is 6th string back up and lukes is 4th man up
