The Dodgers re-signed Evan Phillips on a one-year, $6.5 million deal. Ben Rortvedt was DFA’d.

  1. I always wonder how the players react to being DFAd multiple times by the same team its an interesting process

  2. Juggling Benny Biceps until he clears waivers with us is maddening, hopefully this is the last time

  3. Let’s fucking go man, one of the best stories of this era of the Dodgers and one of my favorite pitchers in the league. I was really hoping we would find a way to bring him back after the nontender.

Shame about Rortvedt being the corresponding cut. Hopefully he clears waivers this time and we can keep him in the organization, I really want him around the young guys in AAA and to be the first option if either of our Cs get hurt.

  4. I don’t know anything about this whole process, but I hope this all works out for Benny in the end!

  5. surprised they didn’t wait till friday to put brock stewart on the 60 to add phillips. then again they need another spot for enrique … unless there’s another candidate to go on the 60

  6. Didn’t Phillips get Tommy John last year? I assume he won’t be ready to start the season. He had the procedure last June and with a normal 1 year recovery, this seeems like a total 60 Day IL move, which would not have required a corresponding DFA.

  7. What was he supposed to make before they non tendered him in November? Did they save that much or was it more for a roster spot?

  8. I’m just going based off what my eyes saw but Evan’s pitches looked nastier than ever last year for those few couple of batters he got to face.

    Is it just me?

  9. Can Ben elect for FA after he gets claimed and re-sign with a minor league deal with the Dodgers?

  10. Friedman/Gomes must have been clear to Rortvedt exactly what they are trying to do. I hope he doesn’t feel too slighted. I wonder what will happen with Anthony Banda, if he’ll get claimed by somebody or stay in the LAD system.
