I think we’re in a pivotal point in this era of Bengals football and we absolutely CANNOT afford to screw up this draft.

Our current defense is fully preventing us from contending.

With that being said, we need to hit on defensive picks and we need players that can contribute DAY ONE.

Caleb Downs might be the most pro-ready player in the entire draft. He immediately would raise the floor of our defense. If he’s available – he’s gotta be the pick, no questions asked.

Zion Young is in my opinion – the best EDGE in the second tier of pass rushers in this draft. He would be fantastic pick in round 2.

Perhaps I have a little bias towards Corleone however he’s a beast at a position of need and I think that’s a no brainer pick in the third.

Next, I’m a big fan of Devin Moore. He’s got great size and speed and could very well be a day one starter at CB. I think he raises the floor of that room immediately.

Finally – I think Taylor and Fa’amoe both could be nice depth OLine pieces. You can never have enough and I really like Jack Kelly. Think he could’ve an eventual starter.

Basically, we have to make the defense better this offseason. If we protect Joe Burrow and have even close to a league average defense – this team is a contender. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

  2. I don’t know much of the draft past the first 2 rounds, but if the draft played out with Downs and Young as our first 2 picks, that is best case scenario.

  4. Corleone was a 2nd round pick coming into the season. He was hurt all year. If we could get him in the 3rd round, that would not be a bad risk.

  5. Good for a draft. Would probably need us to find a better pass rushing DT in free agency, not really sure how easy that is, but that would be a solid off season.

  6. Really would love to know the contingency plans. I would be hooting and hollering if we draft Downs, but I don’t think he’s making it to 10 unless something crazy happens with him

  7. I feel like they are going to take a WR somewhere along the way, or maybe a lineman, but otherwise I like how this looks.

  10. I genuinely don’t know how the draft grading works, but I’m trying to follow some of the mock drafts being put out. I’ve seen several different people mock Caleb Downs as being there at 10, but not picked until like 12 or 13 or something.

    I even heard some say “Caleb Downs is probably the most sure pick in the draft. The Bengals could definitely use safety help, but I think 10 is too high for a safety; I see downs going at 13.” Like that makes zero sense to me. For sure day one starter in a role we desperately need to improve on, but nah.

  11. Outside of defense I’d really like to see a LT drafted in the first 4 rounds. We need better tackle depth and a future replacement for Orlando Brown Jr.

  12. I really like where your head is at. If the draft goes exactly like this and we get everyone under contract by training camp then I’ll be quite happy.

  13. I really don’t like it, honestly. I don’t know that it does raise the floor other than the Downs pick. I also don’t like the idea of raising the floor by filling specific needs in the draft. They should raise the floor in free agency and raise the ceiling in the draft.

    This also completely ignores a glaring need for a swing tackle/ future LT replacement. OBJr took a while to find his footing last year, has battled injuries, and is getting older. Ford would be nice depth, but having him as a primary swing tackle isn’t good enough. He’s also almost 30. A late round IOL pick is not the investment the team needs to make in that position.

  17. lol Downs a B+ wtf. This would be a great draft. I like Zion young and the godfather as well. It would definitely raise the floor (and probably the ceiling) for this defense

  18. I’d love if they could get Downs at 10 and then trade back up into the late 1st for Sonny Styles
