TLDR; if Lt Governor Dan Patrick wins another 4 year term, and he sticks to his promise of not even introducing the bill to be voted on, that would eliminate any possible chance the Mavericks get their casino approved in time to play in it for the 2031 season.

And since the Mavericks have burned down all their bridges with the Stars, they dont really have any other option but to build a new arena, sell the team, or relocate. A new owner might be able to rebuild a partnership with the Stars but I dont think Tom Gaglardi would be willing to trust the Adlesons at this point.

  1. As much as I’d love for the current ownership to sell, it’s highly improbable that I’d ever rally for Paxton to remain Texas AG. If staving off the destruction of earth from a hostile alien force by voting for him to remain AG was on the table, maybe then I’d take it under consideration.

  2. This shit is like teaming up with Stalin to beat the Nazis lmao

Not that Texas won’t continue to vote these gremlins into office but if the trade off was the Adelsons keep the mavs and Texas rid itself of Dan Patrick, I’d take that any day

Sorry I care about having pro choice options, weed and basic human rights over basketball

  3. Adelsons may not know shit about basketball but one thing they’re experts at is buying politicians

  4. Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton are two of a very short list of people I might dislike more than the Adelsons.

Fuck them. Paxton is a crook and Patrick long abandoned his duty to the public to dictate morality from his position as if he was god’s voice on earth.

  5. im surprised the adelsons cant line dan patricks pockets harder than the oklahoma/louisiana casinos that desperately depend on texas having casinos be illegal

  6. Nice try Dan. I remember your whole anti weed crusade. Still not voting for your bitch ass.

  7. 1. A new arena/resort area and a casino are not mutually exclusive.

    2. The casino portion of their plans is not the main piece. In fact I’d be willing to bet an actual casino would be 4-5th on the list.

    3. If anyone burnt bridges its the Stars of no fault of their own. They just don’t have enough revenue to hold up their end of the agreement with the Mavs and the City of Dallas

    4. The Mavs don’t give two sh*ts about the Stars. The Stars need the Mavs waaaaaaaay more than the Mavs would ever need the Stars.

    5. The Stars moving to Willow Bend is significantly better for them than staying in the AAC. Same goes for the Mavs moving to Valley View.

    6. The Adlesons aren’t even the biggest pro-casino PAC contributors. Tilman Fertitta has been in it way longer and has provided 2x-3x more money than the Adlesons. The Adlesons are in the pro-casino legislation business for the long haul. Again building a new arena and the surrounding development is absolutely not dependent on legalized gambling.

  8. Why should they give up a valuable asset in this time when the value of the USD isn’t guaranteed?
