Lived in LA County (Pasadena) my whole life. I'm actually and Angels and Ducks fan, because I loved the Disney parks as a kid and both teams were owned by Disney for a few years. Plus when you'd sneak down to better seats as a kid at Dodger Stadium, they would throw you out immediately. At Angel Stadium they were just glad you were there, and didn't really care. Raiders were my childhood team, but when they abandoned us for Oakland in 95, I jumped ship to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (can't beat the creamsicle jerseys).
Los Angeles is a bandwagon football city – from an ex San Diegan & Angeleno
From San Diego, favorite NFL teams are:
1. Whoever is playing against Chargers
2. Raiders
3. Rams
Death to Spanos Forever!
Honestly Chargers and Clippers should move back to San Diego, there is no contested fan base.
But for the owners, money beats passion.
Am a rams and Chargers fan lakers fan la galaxy fan dodgers fan and don’t know hockey
MLB/NHL is divided geographically. Dodgers/Kings own LA, Angels/Ducks own Orange County.
NFL is complicated due to the 20+ year gap. Like I always say, LA has 32 NFL teams.
NBA is heavily in favor of the Lakers, but the Clippers have a niche fandom. Most of their fans liked the affordability of game tickets and community outreach.
MLS can be geographically divided as well. Up north like Downtown LA and its adjacent neighborhoods rep LAFC, and the Galaxy runs the South Bay. Basically divided by imperial highway.

Nice attempt but the video sucks
Too much going back and forth, constantly repeating yourself saying “well some teams started the sport culture while others came later…”
sounds like chat gpt script
sigh… its a hard life as an angel fan in SoCal rn. We don’t even get to be rivals were so piteied by Dodgers fans lol
I'm a Dodgers, Galaxy, Clippers, Kings, and Rams fan from the Compton area
The consistent theme across my teams is that my favourite colour has always been blue (minus the Kings here)
And all these teams were the first team I saw for their respective sports and league, so I simply stuck with them and will stand by their side forever.
So, until the late 90's the AL and NL were completely separate. Which meant that lots of people were fans of an AL team and an NL team, including me in LA. As I live in between them both, I grew up going to both with my parents as well as Rams games in Angel Stadium with my grandpa. Now, decades later, those are the teams I care about. I would call myself an Angels fan first though, as the new look Angel Stadium was fun for me as a kid, and of course, 2002. And with the Rams in another state and the Dodgers McCourt, the 2000's was the golden age of Angels Baseball relevancy. Even Kobe supported the team at the time. Modern Angels fans are now those who are in OC, those who were kids in the 2000s, Asians who stuck with the Angels after Ohtani left, and/or contrarians who like the underdog. I still find Angels fans throughout LA, and they are again either were kids in the 2000's or Rams fans before the move. People have mentioned the Dodgers/49ers fans which was a result of the Rams moving, and as you can tell, they are DODGERS fans, as Dodgers/Lakers/NFL team is very common here. If Angels fans are NFL fans it is Rams due to sharing a stadium much more than other teams, maybe the Chargers due to SD. Dodgers fans like saying Angels fans are Chargers fans since the Dodgers/Lakers fans view the Clippers and Chargers as lesser than them along with the Angels and that THEY deserve the winning Rams team as fans as they are winners unlike the LAC teams which never won.
Also, The Angels were in LA first as the PCL Angels long before the Dodgers were here.
Raider fans in the building
I live in Long beach so Anaheim is closer. But for reason for being a Ducks fan was the mighty ducks movie but what submitted my fandom is Paul Kariya grit in 03. Angels were closer. UCLA helped me get my seizures under control so the saved my life so I have strong ties to them
Idc LA will always be for the Raiders!!!!😂
Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Kings, Galaxy fan here
Carson Galaxy represents casual fans and AYSO families….LAFC reps the true soccer fanatics…
Being born raised in LA, it’s really sad and shameful to see so many mixed loyalties and no sense of community. I would brand anyone being Yankees, 49ers or Celtics fan in SoCal a traitor.
As someone that has grown up in LA and still lives here, fanbase loyalty seems to largely depend on a few categories:
1) LA identity vs not LA identity
.
(HUMONGOUS GAP)
.
2) Familial legacy
3) Fanbase respect
The Dodgers and Lakers RULE LA no question. During the '00s and early '10s, it was largely Lakers due to Kobe's success, but after he retired and the team fell from grace until Lebron arrived, Dodgers ramped up higher than them and eek them out ever so slightly today. As for football, due to the hiatus of no LA teams, the fanbase seemed pretty split between the 49ers and the Raiders depending on legacy, family allegeance, or both. Now that the Rams are back, the fanbase is growing steadily. Chargers are still seen as San Diego mostly, and if you're a Dodgers fan then you HATE SanFran and San Diego. MLS is the trickiest because LA Galaxy have been the long standing LA team with championships to their name, but that's from the Beckham era and the team has been kinda washed in recent times while not treating their fanbase the greatest. Meanwhile LAFC is a newer club that's signing generational talent (eg. Sonny) and is building a true, healthy relationship with their fanbase while also being really good as well. As of now it feels like Galaxy is for the old-heads while LAFC is for the newer generation that's grown up.
If I was to rank them personally:
1) Dodgers
2) Lakers
3) Rams (especially this year)
4) Kings
5) Clippers
6) Chargers
7) LAFC
8) Galaxy
Not LA:
Angels + Ducks
It may be convoluted due to LA's history with sports teams as you stated at the end of the video, but it largely boils down nowadays for newer sports fans, since the city now has stable footing in the Big 4 + MLS, as what is really seen as truely LA and NOT LA.
Anaheim sucks.
Like…oof…that is a shitty place.
Please do the Australian NRL
While not from LA. I am a Ducks fan here in Wisconsin. Simple reasons. 1.) 90s kid that grew up with the movies and cartoon. 2.) When I started getting deep into hockey it was during the 2003 deep playoffs run. 3.) I just can't bring myself to cheer on teams from Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, and St. Louis.
I became an Angels fan because it was closer and easier to get to games. But I’ve always rooted for both the Dodgers and Angels. I want a freeway World Series before I die.
Only one team is named after Los Angeles. Los Angeles Angels. The City of Angels.
Loved the video and I know it’s about pro sports but the USC vs UCLA rivalry is such a big part of LA sports culture and history
❤️💛
Dodgers
Lakers
USC Football
Kings
LAFC
UCLA basketball
I just follow my dads teams so im chargers dodgers lakers i only really care about the chargers because i actually understand the nfl
if ur from LA and grew up in LA (AKA did middleschool + highschool at least). you know for a fact there are zero clipper fans LMAO
I Would easily put the kings in the upper tier with the lakers and dodgers. LA loves that team deeply. even if we disagree on basketball teams or football teams, if you live in LA county or the city you love the kings. OC is has the ducks and the rep them equally hard. that division is by far the most clear imo.
Born in 1997. As a first gen LA Sports Fan. The Chargers took the NFL Allegiance considering their runs in the mid 2000s. When they were better than most of the other "LA" teams in the Rams, Raiders, and 49ers. Otherwise a fan of the OGs in the Dodgers, Lakers, and Kings.
An aspect you omitted: with so many teams, including major colleges, perfect weather, and so many other ways to spend a weekend, fandom can be transitory. A Dodger fan has no problem rooting for the Rams, Trojans, Clippers, etc. if they're doing well.
You forgot to mention the Raiders. LA’s most popular football.
Calling the dodgers a global brand while 90% of the world outside the U.S. simply does not care about baseball seems a stretch to me.
If you're someone who grew up in LA County or Orange County you generally pick based geographically for Angels or Dodgers. There are older Angels fans who are Kings fans because the Ducks didn't exist yet. For soccer if you've been a fan forever you're a Galaxy fan, new to MLS you generally like LAFC. For football it's generally Raiders, wide gap, 49ers, Cowboys, Steelers, Packers, Broncos, Chiefs, then maybe Rams followed by Chargers. Rams fans are insecure and try to refute this but I'm speaking generally. The only team that has unanimous support is the Lakers. The Lakers are the top team out of all of them in terms of support and are the only team that can unite the region
I’ve heard Latino Angelenos used to informally boycott the dodgers, because of the displacement of a Latino community in Chavez Ravine to build the stadium. That seems to be over now, for the most part.
Also, LAFC appears to be far more embraced by the working class Latino community than the Galaxy. There is a dedicated drumming/cheering section at every game, and the atmosphere is one of a kind for the MLS.
I think MLS teams deserve a better analysis rather than: They are too young. We don't get how it works.
I'm remissed you didn't bring up the Angel's history prior to MLB enfranchisement. My great grandfather was a life long Angels fan even after they moved to Anaheim, because that was the sole real team in the city when he was a kid (bar hollywood and venice/vernon). That loyalty passed itself down through generations pretty much until myself.
Also something to note about the Clippers… the Clippers actually have much larger native born fanbase then outsiders might give them credit for, which has a lot to do with income. Because the Clippers were so bad for so long their games we're cheap and easy to go to, so a lot of families that couldn't afford to go to Laker games would go to Clipper games instead and they developed a sizable fanbase that way. Vince Staples is notably one of those fans. And another side note, the Chargers get no love here because we did not want the Chargers here. We only wanted the Rams because that was our original team and a lot of us never stopped rooting for them. For us the Rams coming back was like a homecoming. The chargers are San Diego thru and thru and they should still be there. Thankfully the San Diego is close enough to Los Angeles for them to still have an active fan base, but we Angeleno's still think of them as a San Diego team and not LA. However, they do have a big fan base in Orange County, particulary South Orange County because it is in between LA and San Diego, but closer to San Diego.
Yeah Im all over the place. Dodgers Ducks Lakers Raiders and I'm from long beach 😂
A lot of these new Rams fans definitely had “allegiances” to other teams prior to the team coming back to LA. A bunch of Raider fans specifically that jumped teams. Some claimed both teams until fully embracing the Rams eventually due to the bandwagon once solidified as a consistent contender and winning a championship. The hierarchy of nfl fan bases definitely goes Raiders, 49ers, assortment of out of market teams, then Rams and lastly chargers.
Ngl for nfl the raiders run LA and it’s not even close
holy ai script man
Weird choice of generational Dodgers players leaving out Fernando Valenzuela.
Born in LA for me I support the Dodgers, Lakers, Galaxy, Kings and Chargers
