Hello everyone! Here are the 25-26 Flyers by Evolving Hockey's Goals Above Replacement (GAR) model. A quick reminder of what these values are:

  1. Offense – both play driving and actual points scored matters here, and factors in both even strength and power play performance.
  2. Defense – same deal, except focuses on more play driving metrics than goals allowed (as that is typically driven by your goaltending). Worth less than overall offense, even for defensemen.
  3. Penalties – both taken and drawn. The smallest amount of value added, but still a factor.
  4. Overall – total league rank factoring in all of these categories.

Since January, Zegras has popped up in a big way. Love to see that. Drysdale continues to tumble down from his very good start of the year, but has plateaued around league average. This is still an improvement over last year.

What surprises you from these stats? Anything not match the eye test (I have a feeling a certain captain will probably cause some discussion)?

  1. Tocchet throwing water bottles just seeing Dvorak having less defensive impact than Michikov

Chicklets gonna drop another podcast in support.

  2. Surprise is definitely Dvorak’s abysmal D stats, which do not quite match the eye test? Additionally, really highlights Zegras’ improved D play, given Konecny and I guess Dvorak are both defensive liabilities, yet Zegras is posting very solid numbers in that regard. Could be the bad PK we had going on there for close to a month?

  3. I wonder why Dvo’s defensive metrics are awful. He’s certainly been more pedestrian/not noticeable post-extension, but in watching him I don’t get “defensive liability” from his game.

  4. Cam York is in the 78th percentile.
His contract just signed at 5.15 for 5 years is an absolute team friendly beauty not talked about enough.

  5. Hathaway being one of the worst offensive forwards, while still putting up borderline elite defensive numbers is kind of crazy. Even though he’s allowing a lot more shots, they are pretty low quality to the point that he is a positive xG since the new year.

I wonder if there is a better bottom six role he can play for those last 2-ish weeks before the trade deadline?

  6. At least Hathaway has some use in this graph

Juulsen should not be playing as much as he is over Andrae
