  1. Things he said:

    – He called AJ and Scott after the season and expressed his desire to play for the Tigers this year
    – He plans to make 30+ starts
    – He reminded us that he has always said he wanted to pitch until he was 45
    – He still has an eye on 300 wins but recognizes it’d be tough
    – He will not do an extensive rehab if he gets a catastrophic injury and will retire if that happens
    – He no longer eats Taco Bell on game days
    – His daughter chose to wear his Mets jersey on jersey day at school lol

  2. “Looking back I was so young, and now my life has changed so much. You know Ive got two kids ive been married for awhile, just a different person you know. To come back around and have another chance as a different man to embrace the city I grew up in front of?… “

  3. > “Really surreal. The facilities were very different, very upgraded. I had a lot of people tell me it’s not the same Detroit that I experienced, especially at home, so I’m excited to see all the changes. A lot of new faces. A few old ones, which is pretty nostalgic, especially in the media. The players had a lot changeover. There’s no players left. I think the weirdest part is actually driving into Lakeland. I haven’t been back in Lakeland. I spent a lot of time here. I lived here for the majority of my career in Detroit in the offseason, so coming back here was interesting and brought back a lot of memories and emotions. You walk into the locker room, and Skub is showing me around the locker room, and all of a sudden he’s like, ‘Hey, there you are on the wall.’ I’m like, ‘All right, that’s cool, I guess.’ There’s a lot of emotions running through, and I haven’t really processed it all yet.”
