Flyers Prospect progress is a myth.
Im excited for bergland
Thanks for the post today. Enjoyed the player development discussion. I'm still frustrated with the way the team handles and drafts their players. It seems to be a broken record no matter who the coach and GM are. Is the team stuck with blinders on with whom they choose for these two positions? I'm seeing better flow now between Reading to the Flyers, but it's still not there. In addition, they seem to trade for stop gap players and then sign them to long contracts. Why focus on the stop gap players? This is not development and building from within. I see a .500 team with the same problems for the future. They over excel at various times, but can't sustain the play. They burn out the players that actually produce and then sit everyone else. How can you expect to keep players or garner interested in attracting players with a stuck in neutral system? Is this a make or break year for Danny B? Also, I'd be interested in seeing how the players prepare for the next season. Is Tippet going to develop an accurate shot? Is he going to go to the net more? If not, move him. Keep up the great analysis Rachel and Russ. See you tomorrow.
Martone is developing well and should be in the NHL next season. Luchanko can't score in the OHL; he isn't going to be able to do it in the NHL — certainly not as a top 6 forward. He should be a dominant player at the junior level by now and he isn't. Nesbitt has shown zero progression from last year to now. Same exact player with no uptick in production; meanwhile Cootes and Reschny developing well. Amico has been horrendous. Blake Fiddler is progressing nicely while Amico has already washed out of US College hockey. Must draft better.
Unpredictable when it comes to prospects, time will tell
Someone has to say it – Flyers will need to restart the rebuild. This time with coach who can handle drafting in top 3 for atleast 3 years. I don't know of any contender who can't draft.
Speaking about prospects, I was on Muchkov's side of this recent drama with Tocchet until I saw this excellent breakdown of Michkov's play by Steve Peters (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SgSLZwsM2U). Now I really wonder about the player that Briere says wants to be best. He shows up to camp out of shape, and now is clearly playing like a complete dog. I have noticed all year Michkov has not been engaging hard on the puck, almost afraid to get physical, and this breakdown proves it. This is more than a sophamore slump, this is a guy who just prefers the easy way out. No wonder Michkov was getting demoted in the KHL and couldn't stay with the big club. At the time we blamed the coach, but clearly we need to reconsider.
They have to stop drafting small soft players this team needs size heart and grit
Heikki Ruohonen a long shot for a Noah Cates 2.0 better version, bigger and more skills
How many bad drafts gonna take for fire Brent Flahr 🤷
We drafted three third line centers Luchenko, Berglund and Nesbitt and there will only be third line slot on the Flyers , none of them are top two line players, so where are they gonna put them. Luchenko is gonna end up a wasted pick
