Bruins Prospect Dean Letourneau Is No Longer a Project

Dean Letourneau is changing the narrative that plagued him all last season. He is emerging as a top prospect in the Boston Bruins organization, and the Beanpot was his coming-out party.

This is the full story of Dean Letourneau: where he came from, why Boston believed, how he struggled, how he grew, and why this Beanpot might be the moment his breakout became undeniable.

  1. Having laternau surrounded buy Boston picks only helps his confidence he was hurt last season. An hasn't disappointed this year tuff on boards always in front net insane shot sorry i know i glaze this kid like every video you do haha . No im not his dad haha great video you an family have great week

  2. The NHL game seems to be tilting toward size and strength, with some obvious exceptions. I wish to Bruins would draft more guys like Letoruneau, 6'+, 200lb+ and let them develop in the system.

  3. Out here in B.C. a Latoruneau is the brand of the biggest machine at a log sort. Synonymous with
doing all the heavy lifting, I'm hoping this kid will make a big impact when he's ready.

  4. Definitely will have the size to sit in front of the net and it looks like you will not be easily moved out from front of the net the skills are like you said and watching them at BC it seems like he's getting better and better every game I think sky's the limit for him you'll be okay 20 lb of muscle work on the skating and I think he's going to be a 20 to 30 gold score

  5. certainly an encouraging step from last year to this year. With Hagens likely leaving; I'd be very curious to see if he can still be as dominant in the NCAA as a 1C next year. Leave him in BC for next season to play against the other teams best players and to be an all-situations player; then sign him after next season for Providence if it's warranted. I think signing him after this season may be a bit pre-mature

  6. I think we can all agree that we need to see a lot more. That being said, if he continues to work on his skating and puck handling, there's no reason to believe he can't reach the Tage Thompson level. I'm not able to watch him play very often, but he is definitely noticed by everyone when he steps onto the ice.

  7. Need to see more but man he looks good. I cannot wait to see him in the NCAA tourney. I like the Tage T comparison. I also think Alex Tuch, another BC guy. Great video.

  8. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch many B.C. Eagles games this season but I did get to watch both of the Beanpot games they participated in. I was very impressed by the play of Dean Letourneau and several things stood out for me about him. 1) He uses his reach to his advantage and is still able to outmaneuver other players with his stick handling. 2) His 2-way play is very impressive as he displays responsible and intelligent play making in the defensive zone. 3) This guy knows how to get open in the offensive zone to create scoring opportunities for himself and for his teammates. If he continues to show this kind of improvement his future is very bright indeed. I would agree that he should spend another season at B.C. to help him continue to grow and build on his confidence. Let's see what happens.

  9. Lean Mean Dean! Absolutely love the kid and the pick. Was the start of switching how the front office operates imo. Drafted and trading for ceiling vs floor. I will be buying his jersey the second he hits the big club.

  10. Well it's nice for Bruins fans, that the Boston College & Bean pot Stars & MVPs, are not heading to Montreal! Lol!

This is a great breakdown of Dean.

I'll guess that they'll leave it up to BC coach Brown, and the development team as to when he comes into the AHL. I looked into BC head coach Brown last year, he's got quite a coaching record – I would trust him.

Chronologically, it seems Dean should stay another year in college but, this is the game, when these players are psychologically ready for the big time?

    Get them there!

Will Dean be participating in any international tournaments this summer?

    Great video – thanks much.

  11. I like players who take teaching and take coaching well! The one thing no scout can know, nor predict, is growth, in physical terms. And Leourneau seems to be developing well. Progress is the most important thing to see from young kids.

  12. First time catching a video of yours and guardedly optimistic that I can find a source for Bruins news & analysis here on youtube that doesnt sound like a bunch of frat boys are doing it.(nothing against fratboys in general, i just need something more mature). looking forward to watching more of your content.

  13. Watched the Beanpot.
Dean looked great. Can't wait to see him in front of the net in a B's jersey.
Good Canadian boy. The Bruins need more of them, not the soft Swedes.
    Hagens is also great.

  14. Physical skills get you in the door, mental skills earn a seat at the table. Sounds like he is doing enough to have a chance, now we need to see if he can grab that seat or not.
