ESPN’s Jason McCourty added some gas to the fire of the “George Pickens for Maxx Crosby” trade ideas. Here’s what he said: “If you’re gonna ask me to play ‘Madden’ with no consequences, I’m going for the jugular. If I’m the Raiders, why not go out and trade Maxx Crosby? For the Dallas Cowboys, you franchise tagged George Pickens. You don’t work out a long-term deal. You trade him to the Raiders for Crosby in exchange. Now you’ve just beefed up your defensive line. New coordinator coming over, Maxx Crosby. Maxx Crosby is going to make everybody on the defensive side of the ball better. And on top of that, have you watched the way Maxx Crosby plays the game of football? He plays every single play of the game. And for the Raiders, you get a weapon. That’s George Pickens, Fernando Mendoza. You need some weapons on the outside. Well, you got a dog out there.”

The pros of the Cowboys trading George Pickens for Maxx Crosby:
– Cowboys help their defense
– Defense needs more help
– “Easier” to find WR2 than EDGE1
– Crosby is slightly cheaper

The downsides of flipping Pickens for Crosby:
– Robbing Peter to pay Paul
– Cowboys hurt their offense
– Risk upsetting key players

Cowboys news from Tom Downey on the BIG thing being missed here. This whole conversation has been framed as a straight-up swap between the two teams. And that is simply NOT how the NFL as a whole view (and especially the Raiders) view their values. Ian Rapoport has said at least a 1st for Maxx Crosby, but multiple other reporters say it’s closer to the Micah Parsons package. Rapoport threw out a 2nd as an example & Nick Harris has reported a similar value: 2nd + Day 3 pick swap. And that’s the huge issue here: it’s NOT a straight-up swap: Dallas has to send more, even with the age gap.

  1. Call waste my time on that player. We have two number one draft picks I was just getting it for the pics of the draft I was just used to draft picks that's what they're for not give away my players for another player that's a stupid

  2. "IF" Jehtro was really trying to win, he would keep Pickens and then look to trade for Crosby. However, that is way too much money and would take away from his $100,000 a day ship he is so proud of. The Jones family has done nothing but tarnish the once proud Star and the beat goes on and on and on. But in all fairness, we only have the past 30 years to go off. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  3. Trade both of this years 1st for Crosby and keep Pickens. 2 proven star players for two unsure 1st. That way we have a best offense still and now a much improved defense. Let’s go cowboys.

  4. Pay/Tag GP3 and trade whatever it takes (within reason) to get Crosby. The offense is a problem for other teams with GP3. Much easier to stop if the WRs are CeeDee and some subpar WR2. I hate to give up draft picks because they bring in young, cheap talent. But Crosby is pretty close to a sure thing. We know he likely produces big time. We can only hope to get that from the 2-3 picks he would cost.

  5. Maxx Crosby is going to average $30 million per year for the remainder of his contract. Pickens is going to want $30 million per year for his new contract. Both are prohibitive and personally I don't think either player is worth that kind of money. I really liked Pickens last year, but I think that was an aberration.

  6. A worthless trade idea…. right now, with Pickens: top 5 Offense, without: around 15th. With Crosby: bottom 10 defense, without: one of the worse defenses. And we remember how it was without anything close to a #2 receiver.

  7. Stop this bullshit. Keep GP. FUCKING MEDIA. WE SHOULDNT EVEN BE TALKING BOUT THIS. CUZ NO ONE WAS WANTING THIS FOR MICAH. WE SAID PAY HIM. WEVE SEEN CD WITHOUT ANOTHER GUY NEXT TO HIM. ITS LACKLUSTER OFFENSIVELY. KEEP GP!

  8. Maxx will be 29 he already peaked and can drop any year.

GP will be 25 and we're not even sure if he's in his prime yet and played like an elite WR1.

  9. disagree DE is easier to find than a WR. if not, then why have we been missing that #2 WR piece for years and had to give up capital to get that guy? You can find a good DE easier.

  10. That would not be 2 intelligent that shows you that the owners of the Cowboys should let the coaches and the cowards organization, put the team back together, that's what happened with Jimmy johnson , when he was coaching , the cowboys , we would have been the first team ever to go triple super bowls back to back until jerry jones Got involved in that and fired , Jimmy johnson and hired berry switzer and oh , we didn't go back to back to bat , so I think man , we need to man go ahead and keep george pickens and a user first round draft picks to get us some defensive players

  11. This would help the defense but he was a huge piece in our offense it’s like taking one step forward and two backwards lol so could happen This would benefit the defense, but he was a significant contributor to our offense. It’s like taking one step forward and two steps backward, so it’s possible knowing Jerry.

  12. if we are gonna trade pickens i would rather get more first round picks for him instead of trading for Maxx. Hes a great player but getting older. rather build with a young defense for coach parker
