Go back into his history. Like all the way back to junior high. The dude plays up above his age/weight class… Takes him a bit for the game to come to him, the game slows down, and he does his thing.
In 2024 he was voted the best player on the USA Select team that featured 12 current NBA players at 17 years old.
His average as a rookie will be historic, yes, but just know since January 1, 2026 spanning 16 games he's averaging 22 points/7 rebounds (6.9)/4 assists and shooting 34% from 3PT.
See the statmuse image of all players averaging that this year. Obviously, I'm cherry picking a 16 game window. But my overall point is that he is much more likely to stay close to those stats than how he started his first 16 games. For all I know he could actually improve on those.

No one else is doing more than 22/7/4 on 34% from 3PT. They have done it all season, yes, but just know what level he's been playing at in 2026. Given his history, he's more likely to stay here or improve than revert.
He'll go back down for a few games coming off his injury imo. He seems to acclimate himself in new surroundings. But I think these numbers are the new normal and maybe even better to come.

Yea he’s the real deal and I’m letting my feelings go a little bit to support the team. I want him to want to stay, as much as I hate the owners. Would hate for him to want to leave because the fanbase is still mad.
This just in, good player will get better. Maybe. Stay tuned for our next update. All jokes aside, I think it’s clear that he will continue on this trajectory. When you watch his game he has an innate ability to attack and score. On defense his feet move well and he slides quickly to cover spacing. He’s going to be special and we’re lucky to have something to find joy in again. A man can dream, but I could only imagine Luka coming back home and playing alongside Flagg in 2028.
His hand was injured. He’s got decent form and works hard. Shooting is not a concern at all. As long as he can keep getting to his spots and is comfortable handling the ball and creating for himself and others like he is doing, that’s what we should be looking at in terms of his development.
