He dominated TWO sports… then chose ONE. (Deion Sanders | Career Story)
The only man to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series.
Deion Sanders wasn’t just good at two sports—he was legendary at both. Eight Pro Bowls in football. 186 stolen bases and a .304 average in baseball. On October 11, 1992, he played cornerback for the Falcons in Miami, then flew by helicopter to Pittsburgh to suit up with the Braves for the playoffs. Two sports. Two teams. One day.
But the NFL paid more. The spotlight burned brighter. Baseball became his hobby, not his calling.
What if Prime Time had given baseball his full attention?
Part of the Lost Legends series—celebrating the careers that left us wondering “what if?”

Dion did not dominate baseball lol
Wrong. Bo Jackson. Deon was a great football player. Not as good in baseball. At the time people paid more attention to the power of Bo on the diamond then Deion. I watched the Royals because Bo Jackson was there. I never watched the Braves because of Deion. Even Deion has a Bo Jackson story. One sport, yes Deion. Two sports, Bo. The Bo Jackson legend is that of talking about Paul Bunyan. The Great George Brett said he never cared about watching people in the dugout. But concerning Bo Jackson he got up and watched every time..
Oh my God now you say the best two sport athlete… thumbs down. Ever hear of a guy named Bo Jackson? An ALL STAR in both of these sports
People saying Deion Sanders was a poor baseball player don't know what they are talking about, it was his secondary sport, his primary sport he is the greatest Cornerback in NFL history, and a top 10 punt/kick returner. We've not really seen this multiple sport crossover since, I understand Bo Jackson and a handful of others have done it but Bo had a short career because of injuries, so you can speculate about his career if he wasn't injured but that is what happened. For the record, Deion battted 263% for his career, that would put him with Soto, Yellich and Cruz who all batted the same average last season, it would be a near top 50 batting average today, with his abilities to run the bases, he would be pretty good today.
