How some of the folks in this sub look while complaining about the end of this era

  1. Ja’s rookie season, they get to the play-in… and lose. The next season, they’re in the playoffs and take the first game… aaaaaand then they lose four straight. The following year, was the first (*and only*) playoff series win. A second round loss to the eventual champs in a series that without key injuries, probably would have swung our way. It felt like continued success was an inevitability.

THAT is what people are *really* stuck on, even if they don’t know it.

In the entire time that the Grizzlies have been in Memphis, success has often felt *”possible”*… but *”inevitable”*?? We’ve never felt that. While I’m not complaining about the end of this era (*there were enough foundational issues with it that I’m more than happy to see a new phase*), I do understand how it can be hard to let go of a version of the team that made you feel like eventual success was something that the league just wasn’t going to be able to stop.
