not one of the plays had a flag.

  1. How is the Seattle one a penalty? The defender can’t land on JDs legs. You’re allowed to do a takedown from behind you just can’t throw your bodyweight on the back of the runners legs

  2. Hip drops are usually fines, not penalties. And a penalty or fine has to have pretty particular circumstances, like the defender landing on the lower leg.

It’s going to be more on JD and coaches than refs. Everyone’s got to be smarter about how he uses his legs, even if it means majorly cutting back on his running. He’s a good enough passer that he doesn’t need to put himself in danger. Running like he has been should be a last resort. First should be throwing the ball away, taking a checkdown, falling down on his own power and eating a sack, or running out of bounds. Scrambles should be about buying enough time to safely end the play, not him barreling into defenders or extending it so much and getting caught from behind.

  3. I think drop hip tackles are the worst penalty the NFL dreamed up. You got to tackle someone, you are pulling them down, but they are pulling you, so naturally your feet come out from under you. Then it’s just a matter of where gravity takes you.
I get the safety concerns but I don’t agree.

I don’t agree with horse collar tackles unless you pull them over and you trap their legs under you.

I don’t agree with getting a penalty for making a completely clean hit on a QB but because your momentum had your body landing in his it’s now a penalty. What are you supposed to do, contort your body in mid air so that you magically don’t land on the QB?

  4. I’ve been waiting for roughly 3 decades to see the refs call fair games for us. Still waiting.

  5. Didn’t Wagner get fined fur repeated hip drop tackles last year? I think we were being targeted.

  6. Complain, “this is football,” when the call is against us, complain, “where’s the flag?” when not called for us.  Smh.  It’s football.

  7. As much as I would like to protect JD, I hate this pussification of the game. How types of tackles can you ban until we’re playing flag football?

  8. I wish they called one of the 18 late hits Jayden took against the Packers. Maybe if they call the first blatant cheap shot, the defenders think twice about doing it 17 more times.
