transition tag, easy, team has so many holes you don’t create new ones where you don’t have to
I don’t really get this debate. Why wouldn’t Breece just immediately demand a trade if they do this?
Hall deserves to be paid.
Pay him. Give him a statement contract, we’re building the offense around you. We can’t improve if we don’t have some semblance of stability and retaining elite talent is how that starts.
Yes. Next question
Yep. You don’t let him walk for nothing. If it has to be a tag and trade thing, then fine, but he doesn’t get out of here easily.
If he has ANY interest in continuing in NY and they can’t come into a long-term deal by the new league year, absolutely. We’re not using this thing on anybody else over the next two years, I can tell you that much.
If he and his team have made it clear that he wants out, no if ands or buts about it, it might be more trouble than it’s worth to force him back.
I want him back. I think we NEED him back. I’m hoping for a deal that locks him in through the next two years. I’m still thinking 4 years 50 million-ish.
They really missed the window on giving him a 3/33
Sure. That way they’ll get compensation when he bolts.
I don’t think he’s getting a $14.5 per offer from anyone (Franchise #).
The transition tag ($11.7) is the safer bet. He’s probably going to get $10-12 per on the open market.
I’m curious to understand why people aren’t in favor of tagging AVT.
My logic is:
– hes a great candidate for a 1 year prove it deal with incentives…. But after seeing Becton thrive in PHI and get a big payday in LA, why would AVT sign a prove it deal with the Jets?
– I know the tag may be an overpay, but is it a gross overpay?
If he can pull it together and stay healthy he’s more likely to sign a long term deal with the jets. And personally I’m more interested in the opportunity to retain a high level O- Lineman than a high level RB.
With the amount of money we have to spend, YES. We cannot risk letting him go to another team for no compensation after not trading him this past year.
Yes
If they didn’t trade him then they have to
I love Breece and think he’s destined to do better elsewhere. But he is not the same Breece that we saw rookie year before the injury. I wouldn’t give him a long term deal and I’d tag with the hope of finding someone who would trade for him
Should they? No. Will they? Yes. Is it the worst decision ever? Not really.
Just tank
The Jets need to franchise tag him. The most Jets thing that could possibly happen is they don’t franchise tag him, he walks away from them and gets signed by the patriots and is Super Bowl MVP. I cannot live in that timeline, please for the love of God, franchise tag him.
I like Breece but its pretty clear he doesn’t want to be here. If they can’t get that straighten out with him, theu probably shouldn’t tag him.
I mean, it would make things easier for the next QB we draft or acquire, so I would.
Breece gonna be so pissed.
Yes franchise him.
Transition tag but I think we need to strongly work on finalizing a deal bc I don’t want a repeat of pissed off like last year
I would transition tag him and let someone make an offer.
Happy to have him back, but without knowing the QB situation right now, I don’t know if it’s money well spent.
It doesn’t matter if they do or not. Let him walk, keep him, they still are not winning 4 games.
They should just trade him
He has the best passing percentage on the team
I don’t think Breece is good enough to sit out a year, but I could see Breece being pissed enough about being tagged and not getting a contract extension that we have an extended hold out that goes into training camp and we have some same old Jets drama during the offseason. Breece is going to be 25 years old, a single season on the franchise tag means for Breece that he could get injured and miss out on a second contract.
IMO either offer Breece a multiyear contract extension and accept the big overpay that is going to be needed for him accept it or just let him walk.
Why rebuild and try to keep an already disgruntled player. Start over. AGAIN.
they should’ve just traded him at the deadline. letting him go for nothing now makes no sense.
my guess is that they tag him, hold him hostage and they end up agreeing on a multi-year deal
imo, breece and avt should both go elsewhere and get fresh starts. they’re not risks i wanna take over the next 3-4 years
Might as well, but I’d look for a replacement in the draft.
Tag him and hope he drives his trade value up by trade deadline.
Doubt he’ll re-sign the year after when Jets are still re-building.
Work it out with him and tag him.
People keep saying that RB is the easiest position in the NFL to fill when for the Jets nothing is easy.
All of our RB’s have sucked since the Rex days.
Tag him, overpay him like fuck for 5 years so when we do get the QB we wanna develop this year or next, he can have Hall as a weapon and we won’t have a repeat of Sam not having anyone to play offense with
If anything I’d transition tag him. If someone wants to pay him 3 for $36m I’d let him go. We have so many holes and he’s not the elite back a lot of Jets fans think he is – at least in my opinion

Yes, who else are we using it on?
