I really want a rematch for this “fight.” Willy was ready for a fight that followed the unspoken rules of the NHL. Crinon is for the streets.

Willy did not “lose” this fight. Prove me wrong.

  1. It definitely looks like Willy was willing to concede without throwing a punch, and then when he went down on the ice, the other dude did SOMETHING that enraged him.

Whether it was a hair pull or something similar, who knows, but it was definitely something, you can see the switch get flipped.

  2. Yeah I mean it’s not hard to just tug someone’s jersey down to bring them to the ice, coward move by Crinon

  3. There’s a real big gap between getting your ass kicked and having a dancing, singing sprite fool you with trickery and then strike your throat before you even know you’re in a fight.

  4. LOL, dude pulled Wilson down and threw 2 weak punches to the back, then gets pulled down by Wilson and cowers like a fool. Wilson could have hit him if he wasnted to.

  5. Reminds me of a tired boxer excessively holding another boxer in the ring. Thats not fighting. That’s doing something to avoid the fighting

  6. He clearly lost he got taken to the ground and let the other guy get on top of him. The argument could be made he got taken by surprise by the pull down and didn’t want to fight in the Olympics but based off the video he clearly lost idk why I need to convince myself otherwise because I root for the caps

  7. It was a fighting penalty, but it was not a fight. It was “we dropped our gloves, but throwing hands will get me suspended. Wtf?” followed by mild shenanigans and a bit of performative tantrum. No one “won”, no one lost.

On the plus side, it gave our guy, elite goal scorer Tom Wilson the only ever Olympic Gordie Howe Hat Trick. Crap, now I want to get a T-shirt printed.

  8. I’m not extemely concerned if he won or lost it, honestly. I’m glad he did the right thing. Oilers fans being upset that he could not play with McDavid if suspended tells you everything you need to know about his tournament so far.

  9. There was no fight and it was clear that wilson was told about IIHF rules regarding fighting before this tourney. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a clown. Wilson would straight up maul this goof if the rules were looser regarding gloves being dropped.

There are idiots who will count this “fight” as a L for Wilson only because they hate him.

  10. Wilson was very obviously doing his absolute best to avoid an actual fight, all he was doing was shoving Crinon away from him. Then Crinon threw him to the ice and hit him a couple times and I can’t imagine a person out there that wouldn’t have become enraged after doing their absolute best to follow the IIHF/Olympic rules. So if any of it is considered a proper fight, its after Wilson jumps back up. He was ready to go to town, but it’s broken up(mostly) by then.

  11. I can’t.
Wilson realized quickly that he would be ejected and possibly be suspended for fighting. Frenchie plays on a trash team with nothing to lose. Wilson stopped, but frenchie didn’t. Wilson did lose his cool a little when he got up, skated around to frenchie and pulled him down. Frenchie knew he was screwed so he curled up in the fetal position hoping he wouldn’t get destroyed. Looking at it from someone who knows hockey, has seen almost every Wilson fight and was a Capitals season ticket holder in 2017 and 2018, that was not a fight. Wilson quickly showed no interest after quickly realizing he could miss not just that game, but future games.

  12. It’s pretty standard for cowards to pull Wilson down when they don’t want to fight. Watching the French immediately surrender again by turtling when he had to actually answer the bell was funny though

  13. He lost because he tried to start something in international play, got ragdolled, and then acted like the bitch he is.

Rematch? LOL, as if he’d answer the bell.

  14. OP, your unwillingness to accept that he might have lost the fight is silly. Willy fights a lot. He will lose fights.

He doesn’t want to make a big stink at his first Olympics.

Gotta let it be my dude.

  15. If this wasn’t the olympics Willy would be throwing hands right away. It looked like we was holding back until he was tackled. We’ve seen him throw hands for a lot less lol

  16. Honestly I don’t really care either way. He stood up for his teammate and kept them honest.

Seeing the r/hockey – ah Wilson is washed up sentiment… please… he scares opponents and everyone knows it.
