Falcons beat reporter gives the INSIDE SCOOP on new Browns’ defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg

Mike Rutenberg has an enormous pair of shoes to fill in replacing Jim Schwartz and has never called an NFL defense, but Todd Monken is confident he’s up to the task.

On Monday, Monken hired the former Falcons defensive passing game coordinator to replace Schwartz and continue to run the Browns’ attacking 4-3 scheme, in which he’s well-versed.

Rutenberg, 44, was hired from a pool of three finalists including Browns linebackers coach Jason Tarver and Texans defensive passing game coordinator Cory Undlin. He was the only one without NFL coordinator experience, but impressed Monken during their initial video interview and day-long in-person session on Sunday. | https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2026/02/todd-monken-hires-mike-rutenberg-as-browns-defensive-coordinator.html

  1. hey guys can we talk about Mason Graham… how he is the number five pick in the draft and have not done much but he gets a pass, let's not give him a pass…

  2. I can't see Kevin and Reese fitting in this market. They aren't good old boys and they're sure not part of they're not like us fans. He will only win seven games and will be blaming it on whoever is quarterbacking. The only problem is that there will be no Mary Kay and the kiss up media group available to him.

  3. Watching Stefanski give his typical circular answers to the Pearce issue is deja vu.Can't get a straight answer for sure. Trades their 2026 1st round pick just to move up to get Pearce. Stefanski fixing special teams? Thats a funny one.
