Konnor Griffin Hits 2 MONSTER HR (111 MPH, 440 FT) as Pirates Torch Red Sox 16-7 | Spring Recap

North Shore Nine recaps the Pirates’ wild 16-7 win over the Red Sox in Fort Myers on February 24.

Konnor Griffin stole the show with two monster home runs, including one off Ranger Suárez, capped by a 111 MPH, 440-foot blast that even “broke” Statcast for a bit. We also hit on the big day at the plate across the lineup, Jhostynxon “The Password” Garcia flashing tools (stolen base + outfield assist), and early looks at the arms (Carmen Mlodzinski, Thomas Harrington, Antwone Kelly, Khristian Curtis).

Plus: our trip to Pirate City, what stood out from drills/live BP, and a reminder — NS9LIVE is Wednesday at 8 PM at The Cut Golf & Grill in Palmetto (come hang if you’re in the area).

  1. i have to admit for the first time in a long long time I"m looking forward to the pirates baseballs season I think we can finally finish above 500

  2. The only reason I have faith that he will make the opening day roster is because of Paul Skenes!! If he wasn’t here then he would start in AAA… Need Skenes and Griffin playing together at the same time while Skenes is here… He will crack the lineup

  3. This type of content is what will take you guys from having a "sicko" group to the next level. As much as I love being a part of a small niche, it's part of the greater good. I'm so very proud and thankful for you guys providing this coverage so everyone can get a glimpse of what makes you guys special. (Even you, Doug 🙂

  4. As a Red Sox fan, I watched the whole game. I loved the Pirates hitting. I know the pitchers the Pirates were facing. Suarez has been an All Star. Watson is expected to make the team, and Gamboa has a chance as their 2nd LH Reliever. The Pirates hit them all. It is great to see actual MLB level baseball players competing for jobs in Pittsburgh instead of retreads and Quad A players. Having a good bench goes a long way to winning games when injuries and underperformance invariably occur and the Pirates look ready to go for the first time in a decade. Mlodzinski looked legit. The other pitchers not so much and of course, I'll end w/Konnor Griffin. The first one (HR) was great, but getting to 0-2, staying alive, and delivering on that 440' to LCF was quite impressive. Rooting for him to relax and remain process driven instead of trying to replicate yesterday's results. That the most difficult part for all young people. They try to bring the past performance into the present instead of just remaining detached from results and being totally process driven both physically and mentally. Rooting for the Pirates to have a year 💪🏼
