Every team worth their salt has and should have "World Series" expectations.
It's our place as Mariners fans to manage expectations, especially given their history.
Having expectations of winning anything is the best way to end up disappointed.
Therefore, having "World Series" expectations as a Mariners fan is a fool's errand.
Even if they look like they have a good team, so many things that have literally never gone right for this franchise would have to go right for them to win it all.
As a Seahawks fan, I saw this year's team as being improved from the 2024 squad and thought their defense would be "legit", but I didn't expect them to win a Super Bowl. It made it all the sweeter and more serendipitous when they did.
