9. This is the way to go. They started the season with Fields and ended it with UDFA QB. Teams that need QBs like Arizona and Miami are getting rid of those big names for a reason. The Jets schedule is tough and they’re not going to win many games anyway. Draft someone in the mid rounds and sign one of these back-up options. If it goes badly, next year draft a QB. PS. I think Stidham would be a guy to take a chance on, these guys have to play to improve, but I wouldn’t trade anything but (maybe) a 7th for him.

16. There isn't any good choices bc rarely do great QBs come out as free agents or trades, it is usually pool QBs. No matter who jets get the ceiling is likely where jets are at least competitive. Willis is going to be the hyped free agent and he is going to demand significant money despite the fact his history is limited, he has a handful of games in the system of a first rate offensive coach. You are talking 3 years, 90+ million, prob 70m guaranteed. That is once again doing what we did with fields, hope he could turn into the franchise QB and then having to eat a 3 yr contract.

    I like Ians idea of a competition. Get a bunch of guys on cheap contracts, have a competition and see what falls out. Maybe have another vet QB as backup,and draft deep.

    The one big disaster will be drafting a QB for n the first round, that is a disaster. First of all they need to get the defense right, if the defense is like last year I could play QB and it wouldn't matter.

    The other thing is the woody and Hymie and Axelrod axis of stupid. You draft Simpson or whoever in the first round, and jets are doomed because you will see Wilson 2.0. no competition and affirm mandate he starts. Woody/Hymie/axelrod are faced with crappy ticket sales, even stalwarts threw up their hands after Glenn laid one of the biggest eggs on jets history. Sadly he isn't wrong, between deluded jets fans and the Alabama fan boys, it will increase ticket sales. Simpson is not NFL ready, you put him out there against NFL defenses he will be seeing the ghost Army,he crumbled in the face of Indiana defense, and that is nowhere as good as ever the worst NFL defense. Any QB in this draft ( and I include Mendoza in that) are not day 1 starters. We draft a QB in a deeper round (2 could have the same drawback as 1) , perfectly fine with that bc unlike a firts rounder, they aren't sexy and they don't cost as much if you move on and draft on 27. You draft 1 in 26 you are stuck with them for several years a la Zach Wilson.

24. Bringing in 2 veteran QBs tells me that they probably won’t take Simpson, at least with their first 3 picks. It feels like they probably have eyes on QBs who are projected to go early day 3. ….. The thing that bothers me about Rattler is that the Saints started winning games after switching QBs. That is concerning to me.

26. I think that qb from BYU has a lot of potential, Zach Wilson I think his name is. What an absolute cannon of an arm! Hopefully we can snag him at pick 2, I don’t see Trevor Lawrence being on the board but maybe Jacksonville will pass up on him

28. Mougey is finally getting things right. Drafting a QB in the first 4-5 rounds or trading for one (or overpaying for one) is a fireable offense if that QB is not a top 5-10 QB in the NFL within 3 years. Odds of finding a top 10 QB in this draft class or free agency is near impossible. Our picks and money are way too valuable. We need to build the team the right way. We don’t have the luxury of losing a draft pick on a QB who gets replaced in a few years. Any non-top 10 QB will be replaced if we aren’t making Super Bowl runs with that QB.
