Multiple Teams Tried to Trade for Reds Top Prospect, Cincinnati Said No

  1. A lot of fans were disappointed when the Reds didn’t extend Nick Castellanos. However, the pick they received when Castellanos declined their qualifying offer turned into Stewart.

When he steps into the box, there is something about him that is different from other youngsters around the league. Stewart’s approach to each at-bat is very professional for a 22-year-old. He’s got confidence, poise, and expects a lot out of himself.

Stewart has done nothing, but rake at the plate this spring. He is 6-17 with three extra-base hits, including two home runs. He lost 26 pounds this offseason, but he sure hasn’t lost his power.

  2. Hadn’t realized Big Sal for a compensation pick for that 🤡. I’d say that’s a win so far.

  3. I agree with the Reds saying no, but what were the other teams offering?? And, could we afford to pay them?? Need more information. I’m definitely looking for Stewart to make a big splash this year. If Elly, Marte, McClain and Stewart can live up to expectations, the team will be much improved. But, the pitching staff has so much promise that hasn’t been realized. When is Hunter Greene going to get 30 starts in a season, or Lodolo, Burns, Abbott? Consistent season long pitching has to be there or the hitting won’t matter. These pitchers have got to stay healthy. 200 innings is a milestone. Even if they are not superstars in performance, that effort is required to go and compete at the highest level. The Reds used 28 different pitchers in 2025. We need better consistency and performance across the board. I’d like to think that Singer, Abbott, Lodolo, Burns, Lowder, and Greene can be a formidable staff this year. Let’s see what happens and hope for some career years in both hitting and pitching.
