Imagine growing up in Czechia playing baseball. A niche sport comparatively and you play in front of small or no crowds. And now you perform on the biggest stage against the toughest opponent and get a standing ovation from a sold out Tokyo Dome. What a moment

Legend
What an absolute legend
Good day for rain indoors.
This was incredible.
I love that he took the moment to admire the dome and appreciate the atmosphere.
Definitely will buy his WBC jersey, what an awesome story
It’s like the closing shot from a movie the way he backs out and takes it in
Japan appreciates good baseball.
Now we just need him and Ohtani to have a post game handshake.
This guy is going to be a legend when he goes back to work. Their government should give him a do nothing job for his services
HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE BASEBALL???
Undisputed š, what a moment. Love baseball.
That was so cool
He was like an old-time knuckleballerĀ but changeup.
For those who donāt know who he is, this the legendary electrician who struck out Ohtani in 3 pitches in the 2023 WBC: https://youtube.com/shorts/BN9gYbeE_h0
Heās also recorded Kās against Murakami (twice), Okamoto (twice), Lars Nootbaar, and Kensuke Kondoh.
His max velo is 79 mph and he closes his career with 4.2 scoreless innings against Japan.
Edit: Oh, and he has a better ERA than Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes this tournament with 0 ER in 8.1 IP over 2 games.
Him soaking it in as he walks off…chills.
Oh man I think I just developed allergies or thereās something in my eye
He’s decided that he won’t be playing in the 2029 world baseball classic
Looking forward to the Netflix movie in three years
Heās 29. Whys it his final game?
The dude is 29, why is he retiring?
Some NPB team should sign him.
4 & 2/3 scoreless innings against Japan is insane for a guy who is not even a full time pro baseball player
I’m from the Czech Republic and I’m almost crying seeing this. Big thanks to all japanese fans, you are the best ā¤
We had Moneyball. Give me Czechball movie now.Ā
What a moment for this guy.
Best part is a Japanese glove company sponsored him this tournament.
This is shot like a movie, the expression on his face⦠beautiful. Baseball is a hell of a game.
Also, he had another curtain call ovation after the game and after the handshake line, was really awesome to see
I’m just saying.
A movie that opens with him striking out Ohtani on three pitches then flashes to him working his mundane job while grappling with participating in one more tournament/making the heart wrenching decision to retire from the national team after this one, and then climaxing with this walk off the field in slow-mo a la Major League would get me to slap down money to whatever streaming service has it.
