The Reds will be without pitcher Hunter Greene until at least July. Greene is having surgery Wednesday to remove bone chips from his right elbow. A full explanation of the situation is in my story.

  1. Mark, I’m interested in the way you phrased this part of your article:

    > After the season, Greene saw ElAttache for an examination. The bone chips were discovered, but instead of getting surgery, Greene **opted** for a platelet-rich plasma injection.

    > “He went to see Dr. ElAttrache on Oct. 28. **They recommended PRP** at that time and an injection, and that’s what he had,” Krall said.

    > Had Greene underwent the surgery in late October, he might have been back pitching by this month.

So, Greene chose the path that ElAttrache recommended, which was the injection over the surgery, correct?

  2. If only there were 5 months in the offseason to have had done this already. Why they thought PRP would make ossific fragments disappear is malpractice..

  3. I’m not a doctor, but IMHO, he won’t pitch an inning this season. Red’s luck I’m guessing. We’ve all seen it before…

  4. Oh well, we survived without him last year for quite a while.

Seems stupid to push off surgery, but hindsight is 20/20

  5. He’s doing an excellent job of limiting his innings. Should be good to go when he signs that big Dodgers contract.
