Korea captain Jung-hoo Lee spoke about the pre-game expectations for the match against the Dominican team. “If you look at the names, you might feel intimidated, but we’re all pros. It’s not like HS students playing against pros. We are also players who have gathered here to represent Korea.”

  1. They’ve got a decent lineup, Jung Hoo Lee, Hesong Kim, and MOON BUG, but their pitching arsenal is pretty dire.

It would be a miracle if they can hold Tatis and Co. but a Czech electrician held the Japanese lineup scoreless

  2. What else do you expect him to say? Yeah, they are probably going to lose, but in a tournament where the Aussies almost beat Japan, an electrician from central Europe is baseball’s new ace pitcher, and the US doesn’t even know the rules, anything is possible.

  3. I’m team Dominican all the way but Korea should be very proud of themselves even if they lose. They’re playing great baseball!

  4. If theres one thing Korean team sports athletes are good at doing, it’s beating top dogs (and losing to massive underdogs).

I know that DR should easily smack us and get a called game, but we’ve seen more unlikely wins before..

Just hope it’s not an embarrassing last game for Ryu because it’ll be his last ever game pitching for Korea. Also if only Ha seong kim didnt injure himself walking in snow or something smh

  5. Love that mindset. Dominican roster is stacked but Korea always shows up ready in international tournaments

  6. I wouldn’t mind a dark horse SK v Japan finals. The rivalry’s gonna break records.

  7. I mean looking at it any other way will lead to a sure loss so wth. It’s sports, anything can happen.

  8. Folks are definitely over stating how likely DR is to win. Korea has a great team, it’s a country that’s been to multiple WBC and Olympic semifinals. They deserve an enormous amount of respect… and baseball is a funny game.

  9. if Korea wins it’ll be the most epic thing in baseball since idk when.

may the force be with you, Koreans 🫡

  10. People seriously underrate the variance in a single game. DR is good but there is absolutely nothing so special about them that they cannot lose any of the remaining games on the schedule. Baseball is generally not single elimination for a reason.

  11. I would be shocked if Korea wins tonight, but it’s one game. Anything can happen, and I am glad they finally made it out of group stage again. It’s such a great baseball nation, and seeing their team finally advance has to be a great morale booster back home. Especially since they are in the middle of their spring training before the KBO kicks off.

p.s.: I really wish MLBN or some streaming platform like ESPN+ got he KBO again. It was fun watching late night baseball.

  12. a little bit off topic but their captain needs to have that Ohtani speech about, (paraphrasing) I get it, they’re better than us. We admire them…but for today, we’re here to win, stop focusing how strong they are but to defeat them.

  13. Love both of these teams. Married into a Korean family & (sort of) learned to speak Korean. On the other hand, the DR is probably the single most fun team ever assembled in the history of the sport. Just hoping for a good game.
