The NCAA Tournament bubble picture still isn’t settled as Selection Sunday arrives with the Atlantic 10 Tournament championship game looming large over the picture.
In total, there are five conference tournament title games that will influence the complexion of the final bracket in various ways.
None will be more significant than the A10 title game showdown between Dayton and VCU (1 p.m. ET, CBS). If Dayton wins, it would open the door for the A10 to potentially send three teams to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018. Regular season champion Saint Louis is regarded as safely in the field, even after bowing out in the A10 Tournament semifinals. VCU is firmly on the bubble but could still sneak in even with a loss. Thus, the three-bid A10 scenario is real possibility.
And that would be bad news for teams living life on the bubble ahead of the 6 p.m. Eastern selection show on CBS.
Entering the day, the “last four in” the CBS Sports Bracketology field are Santa Clara, Miami (Ohio), Missouri and SMU. The First Four Out are Oklahoma, Auburn, San Diego State and Cal. But the selection committee will put its own spin on things, and Texas shouldn’t necessarily feel safe, either.
With 99.9% of the season complete, there are just a few games left to play. We’ll be tracking them — and their implications — here until the Selection Show begins.
