Maxx Crosby news: The latest update may be the final straw for the Dallas Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders player.

The Dallas Cowboys were one of the teams in serious talks with the Las Vegas Raiders to snag defensive end Maxx Crosby, but as of this moment, Crosby is with the Raiders for the 2026-27 season. Of course, anything can happen, though, and there are still rumblings that Crosby may be available for teams, including the Cowboys, when the season approaches.

Crosby’s NFL offseason has been anything but easy. On March 6, the Las Vegas Raiders worked out a trade deal with the Baltimore Ravens to send Crosby there in exchange for two first-round picks. But, on March 10, that negotiation fell through after Crosby failed his physical, and the Ravens instead signed Trey Hendrickson.

Now, Crosby has announced that he’s officially back with the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2026-27 season. At least, it appears Crosby is back in Las Vegas for the time being. Since he’s the one who wanted to leave, it says a lot that he wants to be back there now, and it may shed light into if the Cowboys could ever get him.

Maxx Crosby May Not Be Available Anymore, As His Relationship With the Raiders is Better, Expert Says

ESPN’s Adam Schefter says that the Raiders’ free agency moves and new coaching staff appear to be making the defensive end want to stay in Las Vegas. He says that Crosby wanted out, but that’s changed, both due to the moves the Raiders are making and also because of his failed physical.

Discussing the Crosby situation, Schefter said on Wednesday, March 18, “If you’re Maxx Crosby and you’re the Raider you say you are, and he is, why do you want to leave that now when the Raiders are putting together some parts that make it more encouraging and give you more optimism than you had about that team in recent memory?”

Schefter also said that the Raiders didn’t want to trade Crosby. It was something he wanted. Plus, now that he has more health issues and likely won’t get two first-round picks, there’s an even bigger reason for the Raiders to want to keep him.

Maxx Crosby ‘Wanted to Move On’

“He was the one who wanted to move on. Then he got traded, and it didn’t work out, and now he’s back,” Schefter stated. “If the Raiders are going to trade him today, I think his value would be 80 cents on a dollar. All of the factors out there make it less likely that Maxx Crosby will be traded, and most importantly, we have Maxx Crosby confessing his love to the Raiders and saying that he wants to be back there.”

As for medical concerns, on Monday, March 16 for USA Today’s Lions Wire, Jimmy Liao, MD, reported that Crosby’s “surgeon leak” may be a key reason the Ravens deal didn’t go through.

He quotes Crosby’s doctor’s report, stating “…a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee.” With these new findings, he notes it “will become much more difficult for the Raiders to find a trade partner willing to part with premium draft picks and pay a high salary.”
