So I was wondering about this. What does it mean for Leafs Season Ticket Holders now that they will be left holding the bag here?
Also can a scalper just charge face value + 100% service fee?
This might stop the casual street scalper but Ticketmaster will find a way around this by “adding value” to resale tickets. – eg. face value plus $500 for a “memorabilia package” which will consist of a keychain and a beer cozy.
Huge if this passes not just for sports games the resale prices of concert tickets are disgusting
Good
I’m happy we are getting this back. but this same premier scrapped this measure a few years back. Waste of tax payer money, should’ve never been scrapped.
Holy crap this means I might be able to attend a concert again in this town. Would be the first time in ages.
No way this passes before the World Cup
This sounds good in theory but they also need to legislate against Ticketmaster adding a fee to resell on their website. Technically, right now you have to sell for above face value in order to get your money back. I’m not a scalper but I’ll sometimes buy tickets to concerts and sometimes life gets in the way so I just can’t make it.
Can they force Stub Hub to agree to this? Not just leafs.
You’re laughing if you think this is going to shut down scalpers, by the way.
It’s not going to effect the word of mouth scalpers only the online companies that buy up and jack up prices . Many people in influencing positions have a hand in those operations behind the curtains !
You know who is really going to get screwed by this? Sens fans. They make bank selling tickets to Leaf games.
I wonder if Ottawa is going to massively increase the face value of Leafs/Habs games in response.
The BIG question is…will that make it easier for the out of town fans to get tickets or harder.
One way or another the Leaf and Habs fans will still find a way to DOMINATE Ottawas barn. 🤣🤣
this is the same dude who removed that bill btw
LOL Dougie, you aren’t going to beat Ticketmaster.
Plus, we already had this… you got rid of it. Why are you now so eager to put it back.
Between this and his proposal that we can BYOB to events in the city. Sure Jan.
