Had to go back and check the rosters, but they drafted Antonio Morrison in the 4th round of 2016. Released Jackson in 2017. Pretty clear they wanted to put Morrison in Jackson’s spot. Pretty sure Morrison wasn’t near as good as they had hoped, so it was a net loss for sure.
All in all though, that’s what teams do to navigate the cap. And it is better to draft a year early so the rookie can become familiar with the scheme/etc before being asked to be a full time starter.
That said, Morrison and Bostic probably were not the best group of ILB after we lost Jackson. But, I can see why they did what they did. We did a similar thing moving from Nick Harper and Jason David to Marlin Jackson and Kelvin Hayden. And while none of those were world beaters, the moves made sense.
Tbf this time D’Qwell Jackson was pretty bad on his tenure with the Colts. Way past his prime.
In my lifetime, we had Leonard/Walker/Okereke around 2020 and then Brackett/June in the mid-2000’s.
I’ll throw Rob Morris and Mike Peterson from the turn of the century. I don’t remember if they were good or if they were just my first team I recall watching 25 years ago.
Am I missing any other even decent LB eras?
2016 LBs were hot garbage. That entire defense was! Fuckin D’Joun Smith
Vick Ballard

Haha amazing. I always wondered if RussIsAnOkayGuy was Russ Johnson from the Mudkids
One year later we drafted Darius Leonard so lets hope history repeats itself a year earlier!
I did not pay attention to the context and fr thought this was from today until I read Vick Ballard lmao
Vick Ballard was 9+ years ago. Holy cow time flies.
