  1. Can we please for the love of fuck give this crap a rest? There’s already posts and videos of it.

  2. NHL fans: I wish players would show more emotions and be more genuine

Jack Hughes: Gives a genuine response

NHL fans: No. Not like that

This is such a non story. Guy does something historic and wants that piece of history. This is a completely normal thing to want. Anybody pretending that they wouldn’t feel the same is frankly lying to themselves.

EDIT: Love that the comment section is proving my point.

  3. The funniest part about all of this is the Canadian fans who point to Crosby being a stand up guy, donating his gear to the hall of fame. Let us not forget that when Crosby was Hughes’ age, he was easily the most hated player in the league. Sid the Kid was a whiner who would go around spearing other players when the ref didn’t award him a power play.

  4. Nothing wrong with his response. We all know why there’s a manufactured outrage. I hope Jack doesn’t stop being himself.

  5. “that’s bullshit that the Hockey Hall of Fame has it”

    And then…

“ I’m honored that it’s there. Obviously, things were taken crazy, that’s just the way I felt. I didn’t know where the puck was. So it is what it is.”

He is so full of shit. This is such an awful personality trait. Say or do something stupid, then claim you didn’t say or do the thing, or that you meant or said something else, then blame everyone else for being crazy.

This is entitled diva gaslight behavior and he needs to grow up.

  6. The fact that this is a controversy is so dumb. The quote that’s blown up isn’t even bad in context. A few days after the game he was asked if he knew where the puck was and he said he had no idea. Then the IIHF came out and said they immediately secured the puck and gave it to the HOF. After that, Jack says it’s BS that him AND Keller didn’t get an opportunity to keep them and that he would want to give it to his dad. Is it really a controversy for a guy to say he’d want to keep the moment from the biggest moment of his life in his family?

  7. 24 year old millionaire star athlete that is beaming with typical American arrogance coming off a gold medal winning goal.

There’s nothing unexpected happening here other than we’re seeing these people under much closer scrutiny than we ever have before. Stop having the expectation that athletes are role models, because they never have been.

  8. I can understand why Jack wants the puck, players have gotten milestone pucks since forever and it was his biggest moment on ice so far. If he said “yeah it would’ve been cool to have the puck” nobody would care but his wording makes him seem whiny

  9. Still think the HHOF guy’s response was just as bad if not worse. Nobody really looks good here, and it’s such a small, irrelevant issue. Jack’s original wording wasn’t great (as usual), but his sentiment is understandable. And while the HHOF does technically receive legal ownership, their arrogant response shows a bizarre amount of superiority for an organization that is supposed to be non-profit, and thus relies upon the generosity of both the fandom as well as players (in donating both money as well as items for the collection).

    Everyone needs to calm down.
