  1. What this is telling me, is I NEED to see Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge swing a cricket bat.

  2. Seems pretty impressive for someone using mostly just the upper body just to hit a homer. Need a lot of power to do that!

  3. West Indies batsman Kieran Powell had some tryouts with MLB orgs about 10 years ago, but didn’t go anywhere beyond that.

Shogo Kimura went the other way, retiring from the Hiroshima Carp and joined Japan’s national Cricket team.

  4. Yep if I had to pick one batsman who’d go down the track to a pitcher it’d be Harry.

  5. holy shit seeing Chase Utley in gray hair is such a trip! haven’t watched baseball much since the Ryan Howard and Chase Utley phillies era

  6. Actually very surprised it translated that well, seems like entirely different mechanics

  7. If the pitch was coming in full speed, he would probably find it easier to hit it further.

  8. This is one step closer to my million dollar idea for a GM: hire a cricketer to come in and just foul off 100 pitches. I think they could do it!

  9. The difference between baseball and cricket is that the primary goal of a batsman usually is to not get out and THEN to score runs (since you only get one “strike” in cricket and you’re done for the innings), also, because they have to play the ball off the bounce most often, they have to have short, punchy swings rather then the “load, step, swing, follow through” bat path that baseball players have.

  10. Was just in India and Sri Lanka and saw multiple games of people playing cricket. The Bangalore Royal Challengers are now my squad.

  11. I remember seeing a baseball player try cricket and he was astonished at how much wrist you had to use. Very rarely would you just swing

  12. ha he was finally like fuck it i’m going with cricket form on my swing. and that did the trick for a six!

  13. I’m very curious if he’d ever swung a baseball bat before that video.

Other than running up to the ball, his swing is definitely better than some people who get paid to play baseball

  14. I’d like to see some cricket players try to make the jump to baseball like some rugby players do with the NFL

  15. Lindor tried his hand at cricket during the offseason and I think it goes to show how little the players would be able to cross over between the two.

Ignoring the differences in technique (which are enormous, particularly baseballers trying cricket), Harry Brook showed how different the flight of a pitch is compared to baseball. While Lindor showed how different it is judge when the ball is bouncing.

  16. Did they have a catch after? I’m sure their relationship will be a real homerun.
