I was laughing so hard when this happened.
Bill: “Damn it feels good to be a gangster”
This is funny but why did he say that
To get his and Bailey’s reactions on camera too is fantastic
every time bill miller leaves his mic on an angel gets his wings
or, yknow, air conditioning in the weight room
Ump has gotta feel good about that one
Could someone clear this up? Why would Bill say this? He called it a ball himself. Does he just want a break?

The ump being upset he got it right:
This clip is gonna get a lot of use lmfao this is great
This is funny as fuck
To those that don’t get it, Bill, the ump, correctly called it a ball, and was essentially making a joke to the catcher basically saying “I wanna gtfo and get this inning over with please be a strike so we can be done” Props to him for the correct call and then wanting to be wrong to get out of the heat hahahaha
This is the ump show i will watch
Love to see an umpire demonstrably making the right calls against what he personally wants.
The guys my new baseball hero
If he were pleading to be right it would be sad. Pleading for the inning to be over is just funny.
Their reactions are sending me
Dude this is so fuckin awesome. Blue wants it to be a strike but called it correctly as a ball.
He wouldn’t have said if it wasn’t spring training. That’s a clear “it’s hot af I call it as I see it but please end this already” joke, lol.
I mean he’s off the hook. He made the correct ball call.
Bill Miller: “I am imprisoned by my unfailing professionalism. Send help”
Is that the one and only Bill “Fuck! I fuckin saw that too, goddamnit!” Miller?
His reaction killed me.
“Lord Jesus this game is long enough and the old haunches are buckling.”
man, I umpired a few little league games. that shit sooooo much harder than you’d think. I can’t even imagine it at the MLB level.
that said, Angel sucks ass
The crazy thing to me is to see the margin of error on all these challenges.
That ball is coming downwards, it misses low by 1/3 of an inch. I am not a smart man – but basically that means about an inch or two before it hits the front of the plate where the call is made it IS in the strike zone.
Umping is hard and honestly replay and challenges have made me think these guys are pretty dang good at their job. Half the replays at first we slow it down and still cant tell….
why are they playing this game in daylight hours right now
How can you not be romantic about baseball.
Lmaooo thats jokes ahaha, to be fair it was a pretty close call
One of the reasons I love this new system so much is that it improves the relationship between the umpires and players/managers. Way less contentious.
Made even better by the fact it’s being called by Jon Miller. Love that guy and always happy to hear his voice calling games.
Good job ump making the right call even though you wanted to go home. On a side note, on days where its over 100, how about we let those games be fully robo ump’d?
he sounded so sad when he said the call is correct lmao
With all this heat why arent game times moved up to 9 or 10am?
that’s actually kinda funny 😭 like imagine politely asking for a strike and then getting challenged for it… baseball really said keep it professional at all times 💀
We often forget that umpires are human and have a sense of humor
The Ump stiffing up and making that face is such an organic response hahahahaha
Dammit I love baseball
I ain’t even mad for either side on this on one.. its as close as you get
Y’all don’t understand how absolutely miserable it is to catch or be an umpire in that heat.
And even the catcher gets to sit down in shade with some water and take of half the gear every half inning. Bro is out there all game getting cooked
I umpired for many years in the Midwest where we get a lot of humidity. All high school games in my state are double headers as well. I worked a HS double on one particular day when the heat index was 106 and had the plate for game one. It was a bad game that took 3:15; I was having trouble breathing by the end of it.
Went to our cars and changed out for game two and I had sweat so much I wrung sweat out of my leather belt. My calves were cramping up on me in the field during game 2. I also drank 3 waters and 2 Gatorades during game one and never took a piss that night. The entire doubleheader took almost 6 hours; an absolutely miserable night of umpiring.
