Randy Arozarena releases statement ahead of season: “I understand that with Opening Day a few days away, I don’t want it to be a distraction. Cal and I have talked and I apologized for what I said after the game. Nothing in the WBC takes away from the fact that we are brothers and teammates.”

  1. I lost so much respect for Cal. The whole USA with a stick up their ass thing was so tacky.

  2. In my mind Naylor was a shit stirring mediator who broke down Randy’s defences

    Vibes are back

  3. Man if Cal had just been less of a douche about it none of this would be a problem. Randy’s showing much more maturity by apologizing himself but like, this was all so pathetic on Cal’s part, and from Team USA as a whole.

  4. Why was Randy the one apologizing

Edit: apparently; amidst the deluge of posts about team USA being dicks, I missed that Randy was also a dick. My b.

  5. “I was told to suck it up and put out a PR statement because nobody has my back against the superstar”

  6. Still just so weird to me that Cal wouldn’t shake his hand. The excuse of being “competitors on the field” is so lame. Doesn’t mean you have to show zero respect for your opponent, especially a guy who’s a teammate of yours. Really expected him to come out after the game and say he was just joking but the fact that he was serious really just makes me think Cal’s a dick 🤣

  7. It’s funny how many people in this thread seemed to have only seen the initial incident and are reacting based off of that

  8. Thank you to Arozarena’s and Raleigh’s agents for your boilerplate pulled up from the laptop folder named “Apologies”

  9. 1. Cal should have just shaken his hand.

    2. Randy should 10000% have NOT cussed out his teammate to a national media outlet.

They both apologized, ready to compete. Lfg

  10. I think F1 has broken my brain, because social media quotes from someone on my team starting with “I understand that…” fill me with anxiety, but this seems…good?

Glad we can all move on now, which we surely will!

  11. I can’t believe this was real. When I saw his comments translated I thought I was being trolled on Twitter

  12. Do we not know that Cal told him before the game to please not do this because he would not reciprocate?

Doesn’t matter if it’s a nice gesture or not if you ask someone to not do something and they still intentionally do it, they’re a fucking dick. If they do it and still get mad at the response they were told ahead of time would happen, they’re a massive fucking dick.

With everything that has came out at this point. It just makes Randy look worse and worse. Really don’t know what he was expecting.

  13. This is so stupid that they have to have this over their heads going into the season. Shame on the media for making a story out of nothing just for clicks

  14. Randy Arozarena is and was the bad guy here. You guys are insane and so far up your own assholes with America hate that you can’t be reasoned with

  15. Now for the first couple of weeks they’re gonna walk to the mound and high five or handshake before games.

  16. Both guys overreacted to the situation. And it has/had nothing to do with anyone other than those two people. Move on.

  17. It was dumb at the time, made infinitely dumber by Arozarena going to the media to basically say Cal was a piece of shit for doing it

  18. Hopefully everyone shuts the fuck up and goes back to praising Cal relentlessly, thats much more tolerable than the fake hate boner

  19. I didn’t like Team USA vibes just like everyone else, and agree that Cal should’ve just shaken Randy’s hand, but seems like everyone forgets Randy went to the media and cussed out Cal. He should be apologizing.

  20. Just wondering: how does everyone feel about Kobe trying to literally break Rudy Gobert’s sternum? If you’re fine with the mamba mentality, but not with a cold shoulder, there’s a double standard.

All I’ve ever heard is praise for how Kobe tried to injure a teammate off season.

  21. Tired of hearing about this. This was mostly Randy’s fault, Cal told him what he was doing and Randy did it anyway so he obviously knew what was going to happen. Then had a public tantrum and told him to go fuck himself sideways to a national reporter lmao

  22. Can’t wait for this sub to talk about this apology and all the non-drama for the next week. They’re gonna make as big of a deal about this as the initial incident, right?

  23. honestly respect for owning up to it 😭 not everyone circles back and apologizes like that… especially with everything going on, keeping it about the team is the right move 💀

  24. Loser redditors can finally rest easy. For those redditors who don’t have friends sometimes you and you’re buddy get into a spat and then a few days later you get over it. I’m glad I could educate you friendless losers lol.

  25. I like Randy but I’d be more impressed if he said “I don’t want it to be a distraction so I told Cal he can go fuck himself again and we called a truce until we’re no longer on the same team.” Randy should not be the one apologizing, he spoke from his heart.

  26. I’m really glad that happened and hope we can all just move on from that drama. Usually that’s all it takes from people just talking about it in person and apologizing and trying to understand each other.

Hope Seattle has a great season. Always enjoy rooting for them in the AL.

  27. I doubt either actually care that much. But why tf is Randy apologizing publicly?
