There’s a lot of pirate fans down here in South Louisiana. That’s for sure. *new pirate fans
They just want to delay his free agency, most teams do this with talented prospects
On the up? No the pirates are not on their way up. They might be close to a playoff spot when Paul is in the last year of his contract and wants to leave the BS. The pirates yes did something but they need a new owner because they are the bottom 2 of that division so I wouldn't say they're on the way up. The Cardinals are having a down year but they've been in the hunt for a long time and won a WS this century. The Cubs are good, the reds are good and the Brewers are good. Those three teams will be fighting for playoff spots and I don't see them going anywhere soon. The pirates are trash. Also the national league is better than the American League at this point way better teams than the American League.
He’s batting under 200 with 11Ks and 2 walks. He’s shown massive potential with his 4 bombs but no reason to bring him up just to struggle at 19 years old. Would be essentially the same thing the angels do with every one of their prospects
Pirates are definitely not on the way up, they would’ve done way more this offseason if they cared about winning. Also, they’re probably starting Griffin in the minors to get an extra year of team control on his contract
That swing is most cooling on his mustache
It’s absolutely the right decision he’s not ready and they wanna control his contract till free agency
Why rush him?
He hasn't played in triple A yet. I mean for a 19 year old he looked pretty damn good. Id expect to see him on the roster by May tbh. Also, not to be that guy, but he was clearly very unlucky. His stats should be better.
They’d be doing more harm than good to the kid by bringing him up when he isn’t ready and the team is always a mess.
Damn it I have him on my fantasy team
This is straight bogus on what the Pirates are doing with their service time manipulation loophole. They did the same thing with Skenes two years ago
Do we think JJ is gonna be starting opening day?
They will bring him up around the end of April due to contractual reasons. Ball clubs use this as a ploy to save money.
Never rush a kid
Bro hates the damn cardinals last year I think his prediction has them in the 60-70 win range but they actually won 78 games. Sorry we've won 11 world series but like God damn
Well You gotta give Nick Gonzales some credit here. The Pirates are still very hogh on him as there starting everyday SS. Unless they wanna try a position change with Griffin hes blocked. Maybe next year?
