  1. They talked on the broadcast today about Jesus probably getting the nod opening day because of his elite bat speed (and Severino will be on the bump throwing 98 mph), compared to Lukes (whereas the latter is great at fighting off nasty breaking balls but doesn’t have that elite bat speed ). Definitely sounds like Davis is a lock to be the last man on the roster but the argument for having to do a double switch if you bring in Eloy is going to be the same for Davis late in the game (still going to be replaced by Straw defensively). Davis didn’t have great numbers against lefties last year, wasn’t that lefty crusher we hoped he could be. I’m a big fan of his and I’m rooting for him but his swing looks incredibly long right now and he looks pretty lost at the plate, he has the options so I would have preferred they sent him down to start the year just to get regular AB’s until he finds his stroke and confidence at the plate. Could have platooned Eloy against lefties and had Jesus hit only righties which is by far his strength… problem is how do yo find at-bats for Lukes who deserves the playing time and is a better defender than either one of those guys.

Considering who the Jays have locked up for the foreseeable future on the infield, I would think it would be in the players/clubs best interest to see if they can get Kasevich a few reps at a corner outfield position. He’s already a plus defender at every position he plays on the infield, but that would make him a super utility option like Davis going forward because there won’t be any full-time position available on the infield anytime soon with gold glovers around the entire infield.

  2. I don’t see Lukes v Sanchez as either-or. They have different strengths I can see it being a fairly even split.

June is tough so one might get more ABs if they are rolling and beyond that July 31 might have something to say about it but the Jays are pretty good at matching people with who’s on the bump.

For now it’s still a friendly competition imo.

  3. I will never recover from the World Series. Part of my love for the sport and the team died that night. I haven’t watched much of your content since the end of Game 6 but I’m still here, still a fan, but it hurts.

  4. maybe we can be a team that doesnt care about the regular season. if we can keep 3 top tier pitchers on ice for a month, have a 45 home run hitter come back in september, and then hit the playoffs at full strength from a wild card spot, we will be playing the front office game like the dodgers, and i hear they are pretty good.
