Sheldon: Received #reds news while waiting for my flight home: Nick Lodolo exited his start with a blister on his left index finger. Lodolo has dealt with that issue repeatedly in recent seasons.

  12. I’ve never seen anyone in any sport plagued by such a small thing. It feels crazy blisters have been a problem like this.

Odd that a fella that throws a ball for a living wouldn’t have developed a callous or found some other way to avoid a problem that I’ve never really seen another Major League pitcher struggle with, like he does. Sheesh! Get that man a band-aid or something! Definitely gonna need him to be available if we have any delusional hopes of making it to the post season. Thing I hate about this team, is that one small injury to any of these guys almost makes the season feel over before it even starts. Especially when they’re talking about Hunter missing up to a month or 2 with his issues. And not burning bread on my own team, but is Elly gonna try and play in 162 games this year? Just seems like hes due for something bad to happen. But we’ll see. Lets Go Baby!

    Guys who have blister issues cant do much except be proactive about pulling themselves when one develops.  Its a combo of that person’s skin and the way they grip certain pitches.  Sounds like they were overly cautious with it, and we will see if he misses a start.  They essentially carried a 6th starter, and the early schedule makes it easy to skip him a start if its worse than it sounds.  

    Season is still on.

  29. So I’m a drummer…. Blisters are a thing. But usually a beginner thing. Not that they don’t happen once in long while…. Usually cause something changed in the technique whether realized or not. My wedding ring introduced some fun new contact points. But I have callouses all over my hands as a result.

    Is anyone able to explain to me why that wouldn’t happen for a pitcher as well?

  31. Make him throw bullpens with a batting glove at this point. The Reds really need to get him in with specialists or something to tackle the root of the problem. There’s gotta be a way they can help him out
