  1. Pretty much hit the nail on the head with Ant tbh. It’s frustrating with him because he seems to be incredibly motivated to improve his own game — as witnessed by the improvement we see in his game year over year. We also see how competitive he is and how much he despises losing. We also see that he’s a good teammate who loves the guys he plays with, as evidenced by how he defended KAT to the media or how he motivated KAT by visiting him during the playoffs. We see the constant shoutouts post game and his consistency in giving his guys flowers.

All of those fly in the face of the other reality, which is that he checks out HARD during the regular season. It seems to have a tangible effect on his teammates and their performances. It may be a maturity thing or just a coaching thing, but if there’s one hole in Ant’s game at this point, it’s his level of giving a shit over the course of 82 games.

  2. Ive been saying this for years! Mazulla has a massive rotation issue… tatum was unbelivable in that 3rd quarter 5-7 14 points, than joe sits him for 8+ straight minutes instead of putting him in earlier. Before you say its his restriction it was the same exact issue in the game tatum got hurt. Tatum had 42 points with 9 minutes left and he took tatum out up by 1, puts him back in just under 6 minutes left losing by 6 its idiotic and a very bad coaching move that joe continues to make

  3. Pretty narrow sighted on statistics with a such a discrepancy in sample size. Most generational offensive players ā€œdigress on defenseā€ as their offensive load increases due to contract restrictions, energy deficits, and perhaps mindset shift.… Luka (maturity issue galore), Steph, harden, jokic (let’s not pretend his defense is great), and the list grows with lesser players as well. Y ou have exceptions, but often they are surrounded by great defenders in addition to themselves, like Tatum, shai, wemby. Look, at has to mature, perhaps Chris finch isn’t getting through to some of the guys (Randle) but let’s take a wider approach to this than comparing statics from two drastically different sample sizes and extrapolating a conclusion that ant is the only problem and we need to fire the coach that has pulled this franchise from the depths of the lottery darkness when so many failed before. They both deserve a longer runway than you’re suggesting they have.

Side note: Julius Randle is a huge issues with attitude, focus, and efficacy on both ends of the floor, maybe start there…

  4. Damn, this was a solid assessment, i agree completely that Finch was a good builder for this train but he isn’t the one to get us to the next station. This wolves team feels different than the previous two years when a switch was turned on and bam! But not this year , they are missing the effort.

  5. The regular season is for effort maxxing, and some teams just don't do consistent regular effort. Has been the story of the wolves for the entire Finch era

  6. I agree with your take on Finch around the 6:00 minute mark. As a Wolves fan, the low energy starts, inconsistent offense, shaky defense, sporadic efforts and high turnovers has been an issue with his coaching style the last 3-4 years, not just this year. Under Finch, the Wolves have historically struggled in crunch time and against above .500 teams. He struggles with plays out of timeouts, which is where a coach is supposed to excell you would think. Finch may be a good coach to jump start an organization from the dumps, but he's no where near the top as a strategist and XO's like a Spoestra.

Remember, Finch was not an Arod guy, when he was hired. With the new ownership, they will take a new direction next year if Finch doesn't get this team to improve on its known weaknesses.

  7. Been watching your for 2-3 years now. Your pulse on the wolves is the best it’s ever been. You really understand them. I do think they’ll bring the effort in the playoffs but I do agree that doesn’t mean we should fire Chris finch.

  8. Wolves are playing so much faster when Ant and Randle arent taking turns playing ISO.

I wish Ant would embrace playing fast with Bones and Ayo. His game would take another leap if he used his speed more to attack defenses before they get into halfcourt. Unfortunately he has said he doesnt like to play fast.

  9. I have watched almost every single Wolves game since the beginning of the 23-24 season.

Ant had no issues with competing during that season with KAT as his #2. No issues with effort. They were the #1 defense in the league.

All of that changed when Randle came in. Know why? Randle only plays hard when he wants to, which is usually only the case when he's shooting the ball well and scoring, which is much less often than you would expect looking at his numbers.

Randle is Finch's "teacher's pet." Ant is not the only player on the Wolves who sees Randle slack off and screw up and not get held accountable for it – Jaden and Naz have done the exact same thing this year in not giving effort for certain games. It's a culture issue and starts at the top with Finch and Randle.

Once Randle is off the team I guarantee you we won't see this laziness from Ant

  10. Unlike past years, Jason clearly watching Wolves games this year. ā€œThis is an extraordinary arrogant Wolves teamā€¦ā€ šŸ›ŽļøšŸ›ŽļøšŸ›ŽļøšŸ›Žļø ding ding! On the money.

  11. It literally is because our No. 2 isn't good enough. I loved Randle at first, and still like him, and see why Finch caterers to him because he can be such a matchup nightmare or just effective weapon and to win in the playoffs he has to be peak, but ANT is neurodivergent and sensitive to his teammate IMO . he weighs us down I think.. idk what the solution would be I wanted Kyrie before but Dysumu has been so good but Ant is just 23 so he is still young IDK .. can Jaden and Naz and Ayo be the core …… maybe

  12. but just like when you talk about steph and Lebron as leaders like they had Kyrie and dray and Thompson I dont really think thats fair lol like I love naz and Jaden but they treat them like untouchable then dont let them get the usage .. we young tho patience is a virtue IK
