Not feeling great about the ‘pen. Only thing that is tampering my expectations
Yikes. That pen could wind up being very bad
Hopefully Donnie Kelly will have the sense to only use Ramirez when we’re up by 5 runs as opposed to Shelton who just threw him in if that was the name he drew out of the hat
I think the pen will get better as the year goes on
My bold take: Bubba Chandler will have the highest ERA of these starters.
I wish Barco and Mlodzinski were switched.
I’d just like to have a lefty in the rotation in the #5 spot and I’m tired of wasting Mlodzinski in the rotation, I like him more as a versatile piece in the bullpen.
I love Mlodzinski, just not as a starter. He’d be an ace in the bullpen.
Mlodzinksi is like Cy young the first time through the order then awful. Seems silly they dont switch him and Barco
Really hoping Mattson maintains the streak of consistency he worked so hard for last year. Not really sure where he slots vis a vis high or low leverage situations, but I’ll be happy to see more of him.
Rotation will probably be fine, especially when we get Jared Jones back in a couple of months. Bullpen-wise, I’m confident in Santana, Soto, and Mattson. It gets real iffy after that, but hopefully our rotation is good enough to where we don’t need to use it that much.
When is Jones due back? What can we expect from him?
I feel like Santana doesn’t have that killer instinct of a great closer.
how was he during Spring Training?
Hmm 6th best in the league I’d wager
I think we will be in great shape if Jones gets back and looks the part. Then move carmen to the pen. Unless he’s killing it and then Jones to the pen until someone falters. I’m actually worried about Bubba’s ability to throw strikes consistently.
Seems fine to me. The bullpen has new parts but it’s untested . And they do have talent there . I don’t think anyone has mentioned him , but I’m curious how the new pitching coach will work out. I was never that impressed with Marin.
I’m a big believer in Mattson, and I think Soto was a smart pickup. I think this pen will be good.
Mlod needs to have a very short leash. I don’t get the obsession with this experiment. They don’t have to let him start just because he wants do. The numbers don’t lie, he’s way way way better as a reliever.
I hate that Yohan Ramirez is still here. Guy was trash last year and has been his whole career.
Bullpen kind of scares me in general.
And I still don’t get why we cut Moreta. I think he’s still a free agent too.
Don’t sleep on Mattson. Dude was a fuckin bulldog last year
I’m really excited for the pen, but still feel it can only get better. I’m really interested in seeing if Montgomery can become a closer in the future.
Bullpen is underrated justin lawrence is filthy. If he gives us a healthy year he will end the year and the set up man.
Dang, I’m going to the game Saturday of our first home series. Looks like we’re getting Mlod 🙁
Don’t even dislike him, but I swear he’s started the last 3 games I’ve been at, and he should be in the bullpen.

Seems like the org sees something with Mlod as a starter that Reddit doesn’t. Really there’s no harm in giving it another shot while half of our pitchers are on innings limits anyway. He added a few new pitches that people have spoken positively of. Maybe he finally figures out how to translate his stellar 1st time through the order performance to a full start.
