Welcome to Opening Day! As we enter another exciting season, we have a few things in store that we're adding to our community! We have a lot to cover, and we'll guide you through everything that’s been added and updated in our community.

Feedback & Rules

First, many of you responded to our Feedback Form regarding changes to our community! Some suggestions were good, while others were negative 😬. Among the few suggestions, users have requested to add weekly threads to our community. Humor posts were one of the top requests to be added to our community. Here are the planned weekly threads we have in store so far…

  • Complaint Monday
  • Power Tuesday
  • Meme Friday

Complaint Monday will be the first weekly thread to be posted in our community. March 30th will be the launch of our weekly threads. This is our current plan as of now, but if you have a topic idea, please let us know!

Moving on to our subreddit rules. If you have noticed during the offseason, we quietly rolled out our revised subreddit rules. Throughout Spring Training, we tested and tweaked our subreddit rules, and so far, everything has been successful. We didn't want to change a lot of the subreddit rules since 59% of the community felt satisfied with the existing rules.

Topics

Memes and Shitposts have to be addressed because we’ve been getting a ton of these posts on here. THIS TYPE OF CONTENT NOT ALLOWED. This rule has been in effect since last year and it’s the first thing we see whenever users create a submission. If we see any standalone posts about this, a warning will be issued followed by a ban if it happens again. This can only be posted in the daily/weekly threads, our Discord Server, or in a neighboring community. Our community is only focused on discussions.

We've gotten feedback on politics. Fans in this community have spoken up about this issue, and we are doing everything we can to prevent politics from ending up in the comment section. If the comments start filling up with politics in a non-political post, message the moderators through mod mail. This is the fastest way you can contact us.

Submissions

If you're wondering, why are there very few posts in our community? The majority of this has to do with StopBots. If you're wondering, what the hell is a StopBot? It's a Devvit app made by our very own moderator [u/flattenedbricks](u/flattenedbricks) that prevents users from creating submissions until they can prove they're not a robot. So far, StopBots has stopped hundreds of users from creating low-effort submissions in our community and in neighboring subreddits that have this app installed. To bypass this, head to [r/StopBots](r/StopBots) and verify that you're not a robot. It takes less than a minute to verify, but once you've proven you're not a robot, you are free to create submissions in our community without having any problems! Now, when you verify through StopBots, your permissions will also be applied to communities that also have StopBots. So if you're subscribed to [r/MakeUp](r/MakeUp) or [r/VideoEditing](r/VideoEditing), your verification status will be transferred over, so you don't have to keep verifying your account. This will last about 30 days before your account needs to be reverified. Approved accounts in our community are excluded from this.

Now, if your post gets removed even though you're verified, a removal reason should be provided. Low-effort content and submissions that don't meet subreddit standards are likely the reason why your post got removed.

Wiki Pages

When we took over operations of [r/MLB](r/MLB) in 2024, we knew Redditors wanted information about Major League Baseball. Whether it was about choosing a team to root for, finding where to watch and listen to your favorite teams, or just asking general questions about the community. During the offseason, we expanded our Wikipedia, adding an FAQ, Flairs, and Related Subreddits section. FAQ is a page known for questions that are frequently asked in our community. Flairs goes into detail about all the user flairs that users can add to their profiles, along with special flairs that certain accounts can only obtain. Related Subreddits is a page that is similar to our community but with different topic(s).

So far, these are the changes we've made throughout the entire offseason. We're always up to hear what our community has in store for us! These are all the listed changes we have made so far during the Offseason and Spring Training. But CHEERS TO A NEW SEASON!!!

Also, one more thing, we're also hosting a giveaway on our Discord Server! Giving away an annual Nitro Basic subscription. Definitely worth it for those who can afford a $8 hot dog but not Nitro.
