Four Rookies The Buffalo Bills Should Target In Round 1
March 25, 2026
Of those three wide receivers, who does everyone perfer? If Beane doesn’t go WR, C.J. Allen is the only defender I’d be happy with drafting!

Omar Cooper Jr.
Concepcion and Allen would be my choices here, with Cooper as a 3rd choice. Not sure why Boston is even mentioned. We already have that type of player on the roster, we don’t need another one, especially since he didn’t even bother running the 40 at the combine or his pro day.
Out of those I think I prefer Cooper Jr. He’s got alignment versatility and can win all over the place. He’s got the skillset of the kind of receiver Josh likes where he can get quick separation or go win downfield, plus plays physical for his lean frame. He was very useful for his team going on that championship run.
Love Concepcion. Can you sell me on CJ Allen? Seems like a floor play for a mic LB- great leader and blitzer, but bad in coverage… what makes him the only defensive player you’d draft? I’d like Kayden McDonald personally
Omar Cooper is already 22 and he didn’t breakout in college until this past year on a team with the first overall pick at QB. He’s solid but he’s not a first round talent. KC broke out before he turned 19. He produced with 2 programs. He commanded a target share of 23% or higher in every college season. Cooper failed to do that once.
If KC is there we need to take him. From the numbers I see there is a huge gap after the top 4 receivers and we won’t have a chance at any of the top 3 (Tyson, Tate, Lemon).
CJ Allen is not ready to step on an NFL field and produce right away. Don’t love him as an option. There won’t be any defensive players left at that pick ready to contribute. I’d hope for Anthony Hill Jr. over CJ. He’s a much more disruptive player.
Best available is the only way to approach this pick. Such a gross draft unfortunately.
CJ Allen
One of the safeties (Chauncey can fill the nickel role too, and Walker just gives us more CB depth, and honestly just can’t have too many DBs)
Cooper
Literally anyone besides Cashius Howell and I’ll be happy
Out of all the receivers unless Tyson or Lemon or Tate drop they should target defense. They filled their WR need with Moore. The rest of the team needs to be filled out.
i don’t see kayden mcdonald listed. if he’s there, grab him. the bills already spent a second on a wr and can wait until later rounds to get another.
I didn’t see one D-Line in this article…that tells me it is incorrect.
I honestly feel like the Bills would be now and for the last number of years, better off just drafting the best player available on the board.
I probably would not bother with QB and RB…but i think the Bills could use help just about everywhere else.
I don’t like any of these guys enough to stick and pick if a trade down is possible
Drafting WR in the 1st round would be a ridiculous misuse of resources after just acquiring DJ Moore. We have a massive need right now at Edge, NT, and LB. We’re all awaiting the longterm answer at WR, but that’s a luxury for a team with major holes on defense at the moment.
I’d like see us snag nose tackle Kayden McDonald of Ohio State in the 1st round. We are switching to a 3-4 and need to grab a true nose tackle.
Before the combine, all mock drafts had him going mid first round. After the combine most mock drafts have changed his position to late 1st round – early 2nd round.
He’s a great run stuffer and we know that we need help there. He’d solidify the middle of our defensive line and in college he was almost always was double teamed.
I could only imagine how good our defense would be with McDonald — flanked by Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, Michael Hoecht and Philandro Mathis, as I’m sure we’ll continue the DEs rotational thing.
Bro, hard pass on CJ Allen for me. I saw a Cover 1 breakdown of him, and I left not impressed. The problems they pointed out, I couldn’t unsee them. For example, the guy is almost never in a proper stance for a linebacker that won’t work in the NFL. You can’t do that at the next level, lineman are going to eat him alive.
