One-hundred-years ago, 1926, the Cardinals won their very first pennant and played their very first World Series game in Missouri; October 5th. They won the series in New York, for their very first championship. When the team came home on October 4th, 1926, it was the greatest celebration in Missouri and St. Louis history. The team, managed second-baseman Rogers Hornsby, created the foundation for the Cardinals franchise with Branch Rickey as General Manager. Becoming the second most winning franchise in MLB history. Having to defeat baseball greats, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
