Houston Texans draft rumors are starting to get more intense after another Texans top 30 draft visit was revealed today with Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald meeting with the Texans. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans is known for being one of the top defensive coaches in the NFL and he could add another d-lineman to the Texans pass rush which dominated last season. More NFL Draft rumors came from ESPN today as Texans reporter DJ Bien-Aime stated that corner could be a need for the Texans during the 2026 NFL Draft. ESPN’s Matt Miller linked San Diego State corner Chris Johnson to the Texans in a recent ESPN article, this is what he had to say:
“With two second-round picks and one in the third, the Texans can be serious about attacking this deep cornerback class. At 6-foot, 193 pounds, Johnson ran a 4.40 at the combine and has the length to be a nuisance to NFL wide receivers.”

“A talented run defender, McDonald plays with natural leverage and rattles pads with his initial contact. He’s quick to locate ball-carriers, play off of blocks and rally to the action. His technique is a bit underdeveloped and he’s not a natural drain-clogger against double teams, but he still managed an unusually high tackle rate as an interior defender. Quicker hand strikes should allow for more efficient reps and earlier wins at the point. He offers limited rush value, so his money will be made by giving grief to centers and guards as an even-front nose tackle with starting potential.”

  13. Nick will trade back from 28. We know that. But if McDonald is still available at the top of the second round the Texans should trade their 2027 first round pick for the right to draft him. Getting a first round talent a year early makes sense to me.

  20. To be more specific, nickel corner is a big need. Jalen Pitre is absolutely fantastic. But…he gets injured every season because he plays like a heat seeking missile. Whenever he is out of the game, our defense takes a step back. We need someone to spell for him with a similar skillset: a ball hawk who plays with a SWARM attitude. I think that we can find someone in the 3rd round who has 1st or 2nd round talent, but falls because they are not the prototypical size for their position: CB/S Treydan Stukes from Arizona, or undersized linebackers like Taurean York from Texas A&M and Kyle Louis from Pitt.
