With last night's loss to the Wild, Florida has fallen to a maximum season points total of 95. Carolina did not play, but currently has 96 points and has, through no fault of it's own, vanquished Florida for the 2025-2026 NHL season.

With Florida also pounding on the playoff elimination door, we can also expect to NOT meet Mr. Bob in the playoffs. Vasy and Sorokin now remain as the only "generational" goalies we might face in the East, though a couple of other goalies are having good seasons including our old friend Alex Lyon.

So, the Canes are sitting at 3 of 8 conference teams vanquished to clinch a wild card, and still 1 of 5 needed to clinch a divisional seat. Next up is New Jersey who is hanging in there at 98 max possible points and who the Canes play tomorrow night. The Caps are currently at 99 max possible season points and also play tomorrow night.

Tie-breakers are not clinched against either the Devils or Caps but we might see both of them pushed to the knife edge of vanquishment with a Canes win and a Caps loss.

So let's get our EKOW rolling this weekend and cheer our Jersey friends on to a better draft pick!

  7. While I am excited to see the Panthers eliminated I half wanted to whip their ass in the playoffs on the way to the cup.
