  1. Court, I have to admit I am as hard as anyone on our goalies. Especially on what I thought the outcome was going to be last night.
I have to eat crow, because Korpi was great.
Lorhei, on the other hand, needs to go. Major liability every night.
I'm from Newfoundland, and I hate the Blue jays.
    Go Red Sox.

  2. Pavel Zacha (then age 25) from the Devils for Erik Haula (then 31) was an outstanding trade.
And now, at 28, Zacha has developed, matured and become sort of David Krejci-esque.

He's an excellent 2C. And he's a big part of the Bruins current success.
Zacha's consistent, a reliable 20+ goals and makes the players around him better.

  3. Took mom to Springfield game last night was fun good crowd hagens was lost in 1st period out position just looked confused 2nd 3 rd period he was much better looked good .nothing personal ima skip this vid I dont do Boston sports media im already surrounded by it have awesome week with family

  4. Hagens debut was fine. Started off a little timid, but looked more comfortable as the game went on. He looked like a kid who was getting used to new linemates/new style of play. He will be just fine

  5. Boston should not have lost to TOR but they probably should have lost to BUF

Thus, the two games basically cancel each other out

The two points vs TOR would have been beyond clutch considering their extremely difficult remaining schedule

It is what it is but losing to BUF would have also set them up for the possibility of a 4 or even a 5 game losing steak with their next 3 games being vs MIN CLB & DAL

So finding any way, even on a lucky bounce via a rogue slapper Aspirot put 10 wide of the net, to win in BUF was huge

    88 points today

7 of their 10 remaining games are on the road

7 of their 10 remaining games are vs CLB (2) TB(2) DAL MIN CAR

    Yikes!

If they go .500 vs the 7 good teams, that would give them 7 additional points

    88+7= 95 points

If they sweep the 3 other games & banke all 6 points

    95+6= 101 points

101 points would get Boston in the post season

If they went .500 in the other three for 3 points after only going .500 vs the 7 playoff teams

    95+3= 98 points

98 points won't likely be enough to qualify so they'll need to either play above .500 against the 7 remaining games vs the playoff teams or sweep all 3 vs the other 3 teams & just play .500 in the other 7

OTT ia surging & their underlying metrics have been good all year

PHI is playing very well right now although they're a long shot but they have two games in hand vs BOS & we still play them so PHI isn't out of it

PIT is getting healthy & they have a very easy remaining schedule

DET just got Larkin & Copp back

NYI 8 of their final 10 games are at home

All of these teams have easier schedules than BOS the rest of the way

BOS going .500 (7 of 14 points) vs the 7 good teams and sweeping the other 3 teams (6 points) would bring them to

    88+7+6=101 points

101 points will again, get them in

So just hold serve vs the 7 good teams via playing .500 against them & beat the 3 non playoff bound teams & BOS is guanteed to make the post season

If they can't go .500 vs playoff teams & beat 3 non playoff teams who have nothing to fight or play for..

They don't deserve to make the post season anyway

If they go 3-4 or 2-5 vs the 7 playoff teams, they probably won't make it

If they lose to 2 of 3 or all 3 to the non playoff teams, they probably won't make it

That's how fine the line is in terms of Boston making it to the post season still

The reality is, they're already in the post season to somr extent

Every remaining game they're playing, whether it's against the playoff or non playoff teams, will essentially be a playoff game for them moving forward

Just like the playoffs, if they go on a short winning streak, they'll advance

If they go on even a short losing streak, they'll probably get eliminated

So even if Boston fails to qualify for the actual post season

Their final 10 games of the regular season is kind of going to play out like an extended playoff series either way

Considering many thought they'd be a train wreck, me included, that's not the worst way to end the season whether they msje the playoffs or not

    But…

Let's not forget its largely been a result of Jeremy Swayman

Boston has been bottom in 5×5 xGA, HDCA & xGF all year & they are & will continue to be one of the worst defensive teams in the entire NHL

BOS is also a below .500 road team

If you take Jeremy Swayman off Boston this year not only are they not anywhere near a playoff spot this year, they're probably a lottery team

They can't expect Swayman to do this next year

And even if he does if Boston doesn't significantly improve defensively & add some more speed & skill to their offense. Boston won't be a Cup threat next season either

If Hagans & Jordan Harris sign their roster is full for next season already & that's not mentioning that they'll probably re-sign Arvidsson

    The only way to improve….

    Trades

So players like Middlestadt, Lohrei, Jokiharju, Poitras, Lysell, Brunet along with 1st & or 2nd round draft picks are very likely getting moved in the off-season to improve

Or at least they better be because if BOS just brings back this same team again

They'll be crap defensively & just average offensively & again, that's not a Stanley Cup quality team build

    Crap PK

Powerplay has turned to dust recently

  6. Great vid again! Agree with Ty about Hagens could have been a great thing starting in the NHL…Disagree on Geekie is not good dont like the player, cant do passe, not physical, not great at defense, often lazy and need to shoot at high volume to be good and he's not able to sustain this rythm…

  7. Swayman and Korpi are great, Its frustrating when people just blame goals on the goaltender without even considering the defensive play that allowed the shot on net in first place.

  8. The refs from the game sabres game was rough, that call when we had 3 on 1 rush… Not doing anything about sabres goalie clearly lifting the net off the post intentionally when there was a shot on net and it was likely to stay in zone.

  9. That was an awesome podcast. You guys were very informative and entertaining. I enjoyed it the most of any podcast I have seen in years. I watch alot of them too lol

  10. I'm so glad you gave Khunisdinov (sp)? his props. I love this kid. In October I was and still call him Marchand 2.0. Arviidson is working his bag off too.
    2026. Anything is possible.

  11. Also, Lohri's penalty didn't bother me. It's the god damn turnover two nights in a row. It's a part of him. Annoying!
    He's like Doug Hamilton 2.0.
Oh the irony of had been traded to Calgary.
I still like the kid, but c'mon.

  12. Wow! I've never heard praise for Bettman before. Court you're a first, for me anyway. I guess you save all your 'hate-on' for Cam Neeley eh? (and possibly Peeke too?)

  13. awesome podcast ty is awesome dude, good win last night, korpi played great happy for him, you wanna make playoffs he needs to be apart of it and help, GO LEAFS GO i hate to say it but 2 first round picks is the best thing for this franchise IF DONE PROPERLY, there are so many d man that potential could play first NHL season right away some big canadian boys, also my kitchener rangers ( ohl ) had a kid named bilecki draft eligible would be a solid late round pick, kid has potential like a bigger cameron reid (nsh) from rangers as well

  14. As a college fan the most frustrating thing is when your superstars don’t come back senior year. The better they play, the faster they leave.

  15. Boston has the 4th line anyone would want in the playoffs. They then got sway. Think back to the last year the B’s were in the playoffs and how he performed. This team has the pieces to go on a run if they’re to make the playoffs, but as stated, they have a high ceiling and a low floor. I believe tho. Oh and I forgot about zadorov. That’s another guy who can elevate for a postseason matchup

  16. I have to agree that I want Geekie scoring goals but its hard to call a guy who has 5 points in his last 5 games, struggling. He has to keep on shooting the puck and the goals will come back. The fact his goals have dropped off when he was taken off a line with Pastrnak, should not surprise anyone LOL
My biggest concern is that powerplay right now….this is shades of last year recently where it is SO BAD it affects the rest of our game. Also, once again, it struggles and the coaches do nothing but roll out the same lines and same people again and again. If we don't fix that powerplay and soon we are in trouble…..period.
Folks need to quit focusing on the odd error Lohrie makes…You could focus on the odd error McAvoy makes…do we flush him too? Defenseman in the NHL is not an easy position to play nowadays. Lohrei has looked great lately despite one or 2 errors.

  17. Great move swapping lindholm with minted, about 2 weeks late but thank god. Also feel bad for Geekie, he needs a better setup. Swap him and pasta out periodically just to get him going down the stretch?

  18. Court on the bruins social media maybe two weeks ago a week ago can’t quite remember too many games in a short amount of time, but there is a video of them getting off the bus pregame and you can tell E Linholm is limping

  19. I think Hagens will be up after this weekend unless the Bruins win both games in the back to back. As you guys said, that 3rd line is the perfect landing spot.

  20. The entire segment of when the bruins got a pp and then Lohrei took the puck, skated to mid ice, then passed the puck back into the Bruins zone and was almost turned over. And then the rest of that 2 minutes was a total disaster for the bruins. I blame Lohrei for that 2 entire two minutes of chaos. He got benched by Sturm fur about 5 minute after that

  21. Yeah, if/when Hagens comes up, put him in Reichel's spot for a couple games and then have Elias go down with a season ender (he's obviously struggling with the injury from earlier and a few games off will make him much better when he comes back for the playoffs), and Hagens can slot in at 3C with Reichel and Geekie. Then, for shits and gigs, Sturm can try him between Khusy and Pasta, and then boom- they're all on duck boats with a big silver bowl full of champers and a herd of drunk Bostonians are ralphin Nastygansetts into the Charles!

  22. Great episode! Really enjoyed listening to you and Ty. Let me start off by saying that I 100% agree with you about putting Hagens on a line with Poitras. No idea what Sweeney/Mougenel were thinking putting him on a line with Brown and Blumel. Hagens needs to be with a creative playmaker that has speed, so that you can truly analyze his offensive capabilities. The one time Hagens/Poitras ended up together you could tell there was a connection there. As usual, Poitras was impressive last night with his passing, stick work and zone entries. I think Hagens and Poitras would put up some serious points together. You can just tell you're watching NHL talent when you see the both of them on the ice. That being said, I do think it was the right move to start Hagens in Providence. His first game was a solid start with room for him to improve. You can tell Hagens needs to get familiar with the Bruins system, but also the physicality of the pros. Having seen most of his games at BC, he was hesitant at times where he wouldn't have been at BC. Still think the Calder Cup playoffs would benefit him greatly. I'm looking forward to the games this weekend because first game jitters should be gone. Regardless of if he spends the rest of the season in Providence or Boston, I'm confident he will make the roster next season. You can tell his speed and his ability on the PP will be a huge help to the Bruins.

  23. You don't have the Bears anymore ….eh ohhh!…thanks for the work fellas, HUGE win, Korpy hung in there too.Hagens looks like a Ferrari playing in a league of pick up trucks. AHL, I find can be harder for a play maker type…if you're a hot dog goal scorer it can be easier, but if you're looking for running mates, dare I say I feel his game is more suited for the NHL. Cheers

  24. Guys. We all got to take a paying subscription so Court has the ability to fly to like a Springfield and brake down Hagens in person and interview the guy. Court is the major league and all the Boston podcasters are not and I like Ty and he has credentials being on WEEI but Court is at.a different level.

  25. Hagens is going to be a perimeter player who gets points on the PP but 55
will produce at an average 2nd Liners rate.

This kid was shutdown 55 by UConn in a game he should be taking over.

Should have taken Ben Kindel who has 17G already and is still elegible for the
2027 World Juniors. Scored SO winner last night against Ottawa in a
playoff cauldron, while Hagens can't even get an ELC from Sweeney.
