Not sure if he wants the captaincy, especially cause he’d have to face the media, but maybe he’s willing to do it now. I’d still give it to brock. You don’t need the C to be the defacto leader in the room.

Hronek was a tip-top leader during the locker room tiff that imploded the team, resulting in the norris-winning franchise-altering talent saying, “this isn’t a serious organization, im outta here.” Sure didn’t know how to wrangle control of a team dynamic when the team was loaded with talent, but sure….telling a bunch of kids who should be in the AHL how to dress definitely means he’s a leader now!
Showed a lot more character and loyalty than our actual captain from the start of the season.
Unfortunately Tyler Myers was robbed of the C when he was traded
Making Hronek the captain is exactly the kind of short sighted move I would expect from this franchise

Glad to have Hronek doing what’s expected of veteran players. I would be more than happy for him to be named captain considering he has a NMC for the next 2 years. Once that’s expired we have the option to trade him, and make room for the next leadership group.

This is great. Provides some much needed context to the platitude about Hronek “taking on a leadership role”. As a fan, I’m often wondering “what the hell does that *actually* mean?”.
I also could care less if he’s a surly bugger in media scrums or if his english isn’t great. I roll my eyes at the idea that you have to be media savvy to be a captain in a fiery hockey market. What matters most is if he has command of the locker room. The media here can find enough fodder without eloquent quotes from the captain

He’s a classy guy but let’s not rush into filling the chair after how it ended last time.
Keep the A on him . He can still be a leader without the C . He is not a media guy and putting that on him I don’t think would be a good thing . Give the C to Brock . He can be the voice outside the room and take that pressure off Hronek. Hronek can still lead the boys without having the media saga that comes with the gig.

The fact Hronek needs to do an overhaul on culture is pretty telling. No wonder the team went nowhere with all that talent.
The future now looks brighter since the Sedins.
Imagine telling a fellow Canucks fan 3 years ago that Hronek would end up being the most suitable captain, over Horvat, Miller, Petey and Hughes
Whether he gets the C or not (I wouldn’t think he’d want it given the media obligations), I think this is such a great show of character from him. You don’t always need a letter on your jersey to be a leader. Love that he’s taking charge of getting things pointed in the right direction. It’s always the quiet ones that have some of the strongest influence.
Given the way things went last night even tho we loss, I really like the spirit of the young guys willing to fight like Buium and Willander. I think it’s not coincidence that the guys willing to scrap it out and fight despite a loss are defensemen. It seems like a trickle down effect from guys like Hronek who are telling them to take pride in the jersey they wear. I’d be happy if he was the captain
Why are they in such a rush to name a captain especially during a rebuild lol. The person who’s gonna be captain when the Canucks are actually gonna be competitive in the future isn’t even on the team yet
Sure great hearing our 11 million dollar player that could be doing these things instead that could be linked to the media in a second.
not all leaders use words, some do so quietly and it’s up for others to pick up what is being put down and follow.
I think Captains should be the people who are the leaders on the team and not necessarily our best players.
I don’t think sports does any favors to players who simply aren’t good public speakers.
Real Captains don’t need a C to lead.
Him judging the rookie lip synch battle was hilarious, I appreciate his stoic short answers.
I don’t think he needs to be captain. Alternate is just fine. Let him do the behind the scene stuff since he doesn’t like camera and reporters.
